About Anjali Handicrafts 

Anjali Handicrafts is a distinguished artisan workshop dedicated to preserving and advancing the rich tradition of Indian metal sculpture. Founded by A.M. Raju, a master craftsman with 30+ years of experience, the workshop has earned recognition for its excellence in handcrafted sculptures made from brass, bronze, and panchaloha.

A.M. Raju began his journey with formal training in Moulding from Government ITI, Kalamassery, followed by an internship with the Indian Space Research Organisation. He later gained valuable industry experience working with Natesan's Antiquarts Pvt. Ltd. before establishing his own workshop in the 1990s.

With 30+ years of experience, A.M. Raju specialized in creating sculptures and idols in brass, bronze, and panchaloha, ranging from miniature collectibles to large-scale temple and architectural commissions. His work embraced both traditional and contemporary styles, combining classical Indian sculptural principles with artistic innovation. Throughout his career, he contributed to the creation of thousands of sculptures of varying sizes and complexities, earning the respect of clients, collectors, and fellow artisans alike.

Deeply inspired by the renowned Chola bronze tradition, A.M. Raju practiced the ancient lost-wax casting (cire perdue) technique with exceptional skill and dedication. Each sculpture reflected meticulous craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a profound respect for India's artistic heritage.

He actively participated in numerous workshops, artisan development programs, and cultural initiatives, including workshops organized by the Harmony Foundation, which promoted traditional craftsmanship and artisan empowerment. His work was also showcased at prestigious exhibitions and craft fairs, including the Hundred Hands, Paramparik Karigar, and exhibitions organized by the Development Commissioner Handicrafts (DCH).

Today, the legacy of A.M. Raju continues through his wife, Alice Raju, who carries forward his vision and commitment to preserving traditional craftsmanship. Under her stewardship, Anjali Handicrafts continues to create exceptional sculptures that embody artistry, heritage, and timeless craftsmanship.
