The storyline begins with the EggSpark hurtling towards Earth. Upon entering the atmosphere, the EggSpark turns into an egg-like shape. As the EggSpark is heading towards Piggy Island, the age-old battle between the Birds and the Pigs unfolds, ready to clash over a clutch of Eggs. Shortly thereafter, the EggSpark crashes to Earth, with the fallout turning the Birds, the Pigs, and even the Eggs into robots. After marveling at their new robotic bodies, the Birds (as the Autobirds) and the Pigs (as the Deceptihogs) were about to resume their battle when the robotized Eggs (dubbed the "EggBots") began shooting at random environmental objects, robotizing them and attacking both Autobird and Deceptihog alike. With a new threat surfacing, the mutual enemies are forced to enter an uneasy alliance in order to battle the Eggbots and save Piggy Island together.
The game begins with all of the Deceptihogs and most of the Autobirds captured by robotized Pigs (dubbed the "Pigbots"). Red (as Optimus Prime) and Chuck (as Bumblebee) must free their allies from captivity and save Piggy Island.

The objective in the game is to complete a run from start to finish in each stage, dealing with Pigbots attacking both Autobirds and Deceptihogs alike. Popping pigs is not needed to finish any stage; popped pigs are used to unlock new characters who are encased in ice. To pop the pigs, players must either directly shoot at them, or destroy their fortresses to crush them or make them fall from great heights.
These enemies are distinguished by their red frames and the angry expression used by all armed Pigbots except for Kamikaze Pigbots and Sharktihogs. Pigbot Gunners carry a laser rifle that fires a single green laser bolt at the player, and have higher health than a Happy Pigbot. The Autobirds and Deceptihogs must put their differences aside to destroy the transformed pigs and to chase the mischievous Eggbots, ultimately rescuing the fate of their homeland.
As usual with games from Rovio, the graphics on Angry Birds Transformers are fantastic, with very detailed models in 3D. Even the game aesthetics - strange as the mix between birds and Transformers may sound - are actually quite appealing.
The "EggSpark" has landed on Piggy Island, transforming its dueling inhabitants and giving them bodies and powers based on the Transformers: the birds of the Flock become Autobirds and the Bad Piggies the Deceptihogs. The two sides briefly continue their struggle with these new powers until they are both threatened by another transformed group, the Eggbots, who seek to transform all of Piggy Island into metal, backed by countless robotized Minion Pigs.
Most of the Autobirds and all of the Deceptihogs are captured leaving only Red (who has the powers of Optimus Prime) free. The leader of the Flock (you know him well) heads out to free the Autobirds and Deceptihogs, for only by joining forces can they restore Piggy Island to normal!
Introduced in April 2020, the War Pass and Prime Pass were the game's way of having seasons (like any other free game on the market these days), having players choose to ally themselves with either the Autobirds or Deceptihogs at the beginning of the season with Autobirds giving %10 Attack and Deceptihogs giving %10 Defence. The War Pass is free, and offers various rewards, including Coins, Pigs, Gems, Spark, Crates, Crystals and Tokens. The Prime Pass is a whopping $19.99 per season (ha ha no), offers more of the aforementioned rewards, AND exclusive Characters and Accessories. In order to progress with either pass, you need to pop lots of Pigs, and you unfortunately cannot contribute your already popped Pigs to the pass. Both Passes have 50 tiers, Prime Pass (obviously) offering more rewards than the War Pass. To view your progress on the season, you can either visit the rubble of Shockwave's Spire or look at your level badge, where a smaller number under your level tells you what tier you have.

Whether you can deal with the countdown timers or not, you'll need to go into Angry Birds Transformers with the mindset of taking your time. Gone are the days of mindlessly launching birds across the screen with no end in sight. There's a lot to enjoy here, but it's going to take some patience unless you're willing to spend some cash.
The game can feel repetitive at times, but revisiting levels with a new character and different weapons eases the monotony. Just remember to spend your gems wisely, then when you spend 'em all, know you'll just need to patiently wait until it's time for the Autobirds and Deceptihogs to "rollout" once again.
Other Angry Birds games are about flinging the birds at objects; these birds fire weapons at pigs and structures, causing explosions and blasting flying pigs out of the sky. Birds can be squashed by falling statues.
Parents need to know that Angry Birds Transformers is an action/arcade game that combines the popular film and toy franchise with the well-known app games. Rather than flinging birds at structures, though, the birds here are characters with arms and legs that shoot the pigs with a variety of weapons as they cross a plain. That means none of the subtle physics lessons previous Birds titles contained. The game also pushes upgrades via in-app purchase and severely limits play time without them, forcing players to wait semi-lengthy periods or pay to reopen the game.
Players attempt to cross a plain in their "human" Transformers state, using a firearm to blast pigs or the structures pigs are sitting on, which causes the pigs to die. Flying pigs also frequently appear and must be shot directly (and, inevitably, in the face, since they're bodiless). Aiming is as simple as touching the screen where you'd like the weapon to fire. Falling structures can squash the birds unless they transform into cars (done by touching a button at the bottom left corner of the screen).
Forget slingshots: These birds are really, really angry. ANGRY BIRDS TRANSFORMERS takes the well-known app franchise in a radically different direction, transforming it into a run-and-gun shooter. You have to give credit to developer Rovio for shaking up the formula, but the move doesn't quite fit. The shooting action is fine, but it feels out of place in a game that defined the physics category. And the push to spend real-world money constantly distracts.
