Andrew Rhee Art

Bio

Andrew Rhee is an aspiring young artist, who has created many works of art over his life. He graduated from Wadleigh Arts High school in 2013 and has attended both Parsons and Cooper Union pre-college programs during both weekends and summers during his high school years.

Having learning challenges early his life, Andrew began art classes to help strengthen his hands for writing. He quickly found art to be a channel in which to express himself.

It was at the age of 5, when he began taking art classes at the Bronx Art and Music School, a small art school in Bedford, Bronx. There he met Hee Jung Kim, a long-time teacher and mentor who worked with him throughout his life. Hee Jung is also an artist and was an adjunct professor at the New Jersey City University.

Since then, Andrew has created may different art works and continues to develop himself as an artist. Andrew fills his art with his emotions, animation and unadulterated observations. For every one of his pieces, Andrew attempts to convey a theme or story he had in mind when creating each piece.

Over the years, Andrew has won gold, bronze trophies and high recognition for many regional student art awards. In 2010 and 2011, Andrew won seven Gold Keys and four Silver Keys in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

He was also given the opportunity to participate in several exhibitions at the Palisades Park Multimedia Center and his work has also been displaying in their winter art catalogues from 2007 thru 2010. Andrew was also participated in an exhibition at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in the fall of 2010.

Andrew continues to create new art in different mediums, with a strong passion for comic art. He always fills his sketchbooks with countless sketches of new heroes and villains he has created.
