Andrés J Picazo-Tadeo

I am Professor of Economics at the University of Valencia, and former Editor-in-Chief of the academic journal Applied Economic Analysis. I studied a Master's degree in Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a PhD in Economics and Business Administration at the University of Valencia. My main fields of research are environmental economics, water economics and, more recently, economic development. My works combine economic principles and advanced empirical techniques to deliver insights for policymaking in these fields. The main contribution in environmental economics is the development of models and methods grounded on production theory and mathematical programming to assess economic and environmental performances, with highly-cited papers in top journals. I have also studied the urban water supply market; particularly, the influence of market structure on performance, and the effect of regulation on market dynamics. My recent work focuses on the measurement of social progress and its diffusion, with particular attention to the role of institutions.
