I joined University of Hamburg as Full Professor of Economics in July 2010. Before, I had an appointment as Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland. I received my PhD from the Department of Economics, University of Heidelberg. I currently serve as Co-Editor-in Chief for Journal of Environmental Economics and Management.
My research includes theoretical, experimental and applied work on issues in public and environmental economics as well as in behavioral economics. For example, I conducted studies on international environmental agreements, on emissions trading systems, and on policy decisions under risk and uncertainty. Much of my current research focusses on prosocial preferences and the voluntary provision of public goods.Â
