Panarat Anamwathana

I am a lecturer in history at the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Thammasat University in Bangkok and a Visiting Fellow at ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute.

I received my PhD from the University of Oxford, where I was a Clarendon Scholar and a member of Wadham College. Under the supervision of Prof. Gregg Huff, my doctoral research focused on the economic history of Thailand in the 1940s and 1950s, specifically how World War II and foreign aid played a role in the development of the kingdom.

Apart from my PhD research, I am interested in women’s and marginalised people’s histories, as well as thinking about the subject from non-traditional perspectives.
