Around Prague

During the time of the conference Christmas markets will be already taking place on various locations around the city. Prague's Christmas markets are consistently rated as one of the most interesting christmas festivities around the world. If you have some spare time, you should definitely consider taking a stroll through the festively arranged centre of Prague. Though sadly, the famous Prague astronomical clock is being renovated and it is expected that it will not be operational at the time of the conference.

Among other places to consider is the Jewish Museum, Franz Kafka museum and of course the Charles Bridge and Hradčany with the Prague Castle and st. Vitus Cathedral. Other events to consider are the National museum of contemporary art with an Ai Wei Wei exhibition.

We will be organising a trip to the castle Karlštejn on Thursday afternoon. The whole trip will take about 5 hours.

Depending on the number of participants, the price will be €50 as the castle is about 45 minutes away from Prague center and we will be booking a minibus to get there. The tours through the castle will take more than 2,5 hours.

Payment will be made on site, we will inform you about the pickup time and place.

There will be an option for babysitting with Russian and English speaking colleagues - students. Depending on the weather, the children can go to a park or be inside - we would use a room for art therapy - sandplay, and other creative activities are an option. The price would be very friendly, depending on the number of children. Let us know, if you would like to make use of this service (we are aware this might change, but just so we have a rough estimate) -

Museum of alchemy and Prague's mysteries

Museum of alchemy and mysteries – Friday 30.11.

On Friday between cca 10-14 (conference registration is 16-18) the museum of Alchemy and Prague mysteries has several options, with tours around the centre of Prague.

Main options are visits to the museum of alchemy and museum of mysteries with a guide. Possibility is also a tour around Oldtown square through little streets, commentary with legends surrounding Prague. These options are more as entertainment, although with information and facts.

A more interesting option might be a tour around Prague castle, with commentary about alchemy, more informational and detail oriented. Although the tour goes uphill and downhill, so some of you might consider this to be an obstacle.

There is also an “alchemical bar”, where bartenders prepare drinks that foam and smoke in glasses usually used in chemistry.
