Explicitation-verificationism, 'Arbitrariness' of 'Grammar', and the Vienna Circle
ENGELMANN, Mauro L. | UFMG, Brasil
With the background of Wittgenstein’s comprehensive grammar in the context of Philosophical Remarks, I aim to explain two interconnected ideas related to phenomenology as part of grammar that reflect fruitful exchanges with the Vienna Circle: verificationism and the arbitrariness of grammar. With the explanation of those ideas I aim to elucidate the nature of Wittgenstein’s philosophy at the time, which is different from the Tractatus and the Philosophical Investigations, and to shed some light on the significance of his ties with the Circle.
