Hi there, I'm currently in (ta && ta.queueForLoad ? ta.queueForLoad : function(f, g){document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', f);})(function(){ta.trackEventOnPage('postLinkInline', 'impression', 'postLinks-93064122', '');}, 'log_autolink_impression');Santorini, will be visiting Paros and then Athens. I'm interested in buying a quality briki and a few demitasse cups for myself. I'm a bit concerned about the quality of the materials used by normal street-side souvenir shops - I don't exactly trust that the metal in the briki and the glaze on the demitasse cups is food-safe, durable, and won't either come off (and potentially be hazardous), degrade visually, and generally be high quality enough to have around for a long time.

Can anyone tell me if there's somewhere between Santorini, Paros, and Athens that sells quality briki and demitasse cups for reasonable prices? I guess the alternative is just buy decorative stuff while in Greece, and then buy functional stuff when I get back to the USA; I imagine I could find somewhere selling briki and demitasse cups in the US that offers guarantees about safety and longevity...?

Every Household in Greece has a small pot called "briki". If you are not sure which one to get, the medium size is the most handy to have in the cookware set. Use these pots to make traditional Greek coffee, or other concoctions in the kitchen. Can be used on gas stoves, camping gas stoves, or electric stoves.

Choose from two colours for your retro Greek briki pot, blue or red, and treat your favourite foodie or yourself. A beautifully designed briki that is easy to use and it will also be beautiful to display in your kitchen too!

Care Instructions:

- Clean briki with hot soapy water and a non-abrasive cloth.

- Although briki is dishwasher safe, hand washing is recommended to pro-long the life of the product.

- Dry thoroughly with cotton cloth after wash to avoid any water corrosion.

- Do not leave empty enamel pot on a hot burner.

- Not suitable for microwave use.

If your briki is large enough you can prepare 2 cups of coffee using it. Otherwise, it is fairly easy to make several cups of coffee using the same briki since it ca simply be rinsed with some warm water.

Greek Coffee is a rich and bold drink that is made with finely ground Arabica beans. The coffee grounds are the consistency of powder and cooked in a briki (special pot) with water and sugar. It's the perfect afternoon pick me up served with a sweet pastry. Follow my easy directions to make some today.

Place a heaping teaspoon of Greek coffee grounds inside of the briki. Use an extra teaspoon for a stronger brew or for a bigger cup. Add the desired sugar and then fill your serving cup with water and add it to the pot.

Stir it off of the heat.

Place it over medium heat and allow the coffee to boil 2 times. This will create the kaymaki (froth).

Pour the coffee into the serving cup and serve it with a pastry and a glass of water.

You should be able to find a tin re-lining service if you want to get a vintage briki back in use, but be aware that having copper cookware re-lined is not cheap. Try to estimate the surface in square inches or centimetres before asking about price. ff782bc1db
