ENRON is Lucy Prebble’s satirical comedy about the Enron scandal of 2001. The play follows Enron CEO, Jeffrey Skilling and his nerdy lapdog of a CFO, Andy Fastow as they meddle in fraudulent investments, trying to take their company to new heights. This play explores scandal, the dangers and absurdities of corporate greed and power and does so in a highly stylised manner.
ENRON appeared on the spring line-up as the week 6 weekend show, with performances from March 24th to 26th, 2026.
Although producer in title, the role more so aligns itself to company stage managing. In this role, I was responsible for organising audition/recall schedules, sending emails to relevant parties, filling in risk assessments/performance forms, scheduling rehearsals, and managing the budget. With a 9 person cast, many of who were a part of multiple productions this season, and 8 weeks to get through 25 scenes, I had my work cut out from the get-go. Having to centre our rehearsals around one person's availability, that of Jeff Skilling's, was a feat in itself, as he was present in every scene. Having to adhere to the 9hr rehearsal policy, and knowing due to cast unavailability the whole of week 4, I managed to further splice the already large number of scenes into smaller chunks to maximise rehearsals and times actors were called for. Because of this, we were actually able to finish staging the whole production 2 weeks before our production week, which gave cast a week off to learn lines, and the week before our prod week to focus in on full runs and polishing the show.
Like all the productions I tend to exec, this show had rather ambitious design to tackle the wacky stage directions Prebble presented. For instance, having raptors and Arnold Schwarzenegger on stage. Being half-American, I was also able to lend some of my American knowledge/decorations to the design. As a team, we worked closely with our designers to bring the craziness to life, adapting to our performance space. During the production week, I also spent a lot of time with the prod team to ensure all was going smoothly and worked with them to coordinate the initial chaos of the show.
I had a blast working on this production, there were so many laughs along the way! So very proud of this talented team of people!
