Lydia Darragh was an Irish woman said to have crossed British lines during the British occupation of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during the American Revolutionary War, delivering information to George Washington and the Continental Army.

Did you ever think why I Lydia was important in the American Revolution? even though I wasn’t in the war. Well, my mission was to give information to General George Washington and the continental Army, Warning Them of an impending,British attack. I was born in 1779 in Dublin,Ireland. I was like besty Rose. I  was a quaker and pacifist.  When I was the age of 24 I married William Darragh who was the son of a clergyman. Two years into the marriage we decided to move to philadelphia.my husband took a job as a tutor while I became a midwife. I gave birth to 9 kids, 4  which sadly died in infancy. The other 5 were Charles,Ann, John and susannah. But I say “Though I consider these as public Enemy, I regarded these as a private friend. While I deasent  the cause they fight for,I wish well to their personal interest and safety.” After the death of my husband in 1783 I ran a store until my death on December 26, 1789.
