Amrutha DS is a scholar of English and Cultural Studies at Christ University, Bengaluru. Her research focuses on popular culture, storytelling, and the influence of narratives on collective and cultural consciousness. She is a Doctoral Fellow with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and a gold medalist from the Central University of Tamil Nadu, where she completed her Master’s in English.

She has long been drawn to stories and the questions they provoke—about identity, meaning, and why certain tales endure across time. Her work explores how old myths are retold in contemporary contexts, how audiences respond to them, and what this says about collective constructions of meaning.

February 2025: Our paper "Altruistic Guardians or Propagators of Regressive Norms?: A Comparative Analysis of the Savior Archetype in Contemporary Kannada Films and Soap Operas" was published in the journal Quarterly Review of Film and Video.
February 2025: Presented a paper titled "Narrativising Disability, Eradicating Deformity: Uncovering Normative Structure in Amish Tripathi's The Shiva Trilogy at the National Conference on “Making Visible: Disability Representations in Popular Culture” organized by the Department of English (in collaboration with the IQAC), Gargi College, University of Delhi.
