If you want a compact, versatile pair of earbuds that doubles as a waterproof swim tool for office work or driving, choose AMPACO Headset; if you need an open-ear design that keeps your ears free for situational awareness during intense outdoor training, choose Sport Headphones Swimming Headphones Open-Ear. This isn't a debate about which one is universally better; it is a decision between two very different approaches to audio hardware. One prioritizes a sealed, secure fit with dual-wearing flexibility and heavy-duty water resistance for total immersion, while the other sacrifices some bass depth to keep you connected to your environment through an open-ear architecture.
I have analyzed the specifications and design intent of both devices to help you cut through the noise. The choice comes down to your primary use case. If you are looking for best over ear headphones for study in a noisy environment where you need isolation, the sealed nature of the AMPACO unit offers a distinct advantage. However, if your study sessions involve listening to podcasts while walking outside or working in a gym where safety and ambient sound are critical, the open-ear design of the Sport Headphones becomes the superior choice. There is no middle ground here; these products serve fundamentally different user needs.
• AMPACO Headset: Its biggest strength is its IPX7 waterproof rating combined with a dual-wear style that allows for versatile usage in swimming, office settings, and driving; its trade-off is the in-ear design, which blocks out ambient noise but may cause discomfort during long-term wear for some users.
• Sport Headphones Swimming Headphones Open-Ear: Its biggest strength is the open-ear hook design that maintains situational awareness and comfort during high-intensity activities like running or cycling; its trade-off is the lack of active noise cancellation, meaning you will hear every footstep and wind gust around you.
• Who each pick is for: Choose AMPACO if you need a single device for swimming laps and quiet office focus; choose Sport Headphones if you prioritize safety and environmental awareness during outdoor sports.
The AMPACO Wireless Headset is engineered for versatility across a surprisingly wide range of environments. At its core, this is a TWS (True Wireless Stereo) unit designed to be worn in the ear, featuring a robust IPX7 waterproof rating. This specific water resistance level indicates that the device can withstand full submersion in water, making it a legitimate option for swimming rather than just sweat resistance. For a buyer who wants a single device that can transition from a pool lap to a business meeting without needing to swap gear, this is a compelling proposition. The inclusion of a retractable cable feature suggests a hybrid connectivity option, adding another layer of utility for those who might lose their Bluetooth signal or prefer a wired backup for stability during critical calls.

In terms of physical design, the headset is constructed from plastic and features a lightweight build, weighing 0.3 kg for the entire package. While this weight includes the packaging and accessories, the individual earbud form factor is designed for a snug, in-ear fit. This sealed design is crucial for anyone seeking noise cancelling in ear earbuds for study. By physically blocking the ear canal, these earbuds create a passive barrier against external distractions, allowing for deeper concentration. The touch control method offers intuitive media management, letting you skip tracks or answer calls without fumbling for buttons, which is essential when your hands are busy or wet.
However, this product is not for everyone. If you are prone to ear fatigue or simply dislike the sensation of having something plugged into your ear canal, the AMPACO headset might feel intrusive after an hour or two of continuous use. Furthermore, while the "dual wear style" implies flexibility, the primary function remains an in-ear seal. This means you lose the ability to hear traffic or someone calling your name unless you pause your audio. It is best suited for individuals who value immersion and audio fidelity in controlled or aquatic environments over environmental awareness. If your primary goal is to block out the world to focus on reading or studying, this is the logical choice.
The Sport Headphones model takes a radically different approach with its open-ear architecture. Designed specifically for active lifestyles, this device utilizes a flexible neckband with ear hooks that sit outside the ear canal rather than inside. This design philosophy is all about safety and comfort. The open-ear fit ensures that your ears remain unobstructed, allowing ambient sounds to pass through naturally. This makes it the ideal companion for outdoor athletes who need to maintain situational awareness while listening to music or coaching cues. Whether you are running on a busy street, cycling in traffic, or navigating a crowded gym, the open-ear design prevents the dangerous isolation that comes with traditional in-ear buds.
The durability of this headset is highlighted by its construction from ABS, rubber, and silicone materials, which are chosen for their resilience against wind, rain, and sweat. The description emphasizes its suitability for swimming, though the open-ear design functions differently underwater compared to a sealed in-ear unit. The key here is the secure fit provided by the ear hooks, ensuring the headphones stay put even during vigorous movement. With a battery charge time of just one hour, the device offers quick turnaround for users who need immediate power before a workout. The push-button controls are straightforward, providing tactile feedback that is easy to operate with wet hands or while wearing gloves.
This product is explicitly for those who cannot afford to miss their surroundings. If you are looking for the best transparency mode headphone for study while working outdoors or in a shared space where hearing colleagues is necessary, this is the way to go. However, the lack of a sealed enclosure means there is zero passive noise isolation. You will hear the wind rushing past you and the hum of machinery in the background. If your definition of "study" involves deep focus in a noisy library or a loud household, this open-ear design will likely frustrate you. It is a tool for the active mover, not the stationary scholar who needs silence.

• Best for situational awareness → Sport Headphones Swimming Headphones Open-Ear, as the open-ear design allows you to hear traffic, people, and environmental hazards clearly.
• Best for noise isolation during study → AMPACO Headset, because the in-ear fit provides passive noise reduction that helps block out distractions.
• Best for high-intensity outdoor cardio → Sport Headphones Swimming Headphones Open-Ear, since the open design prevents ear fatigue and heat buildup during long runs or bike rides.
• Best connectivity reliability → AMPACO Headset, which offers a unique combination of wireless Bluetooth and a retractable cable feature for wired backup.
• Best battery efficiency → Sport Headphones Swimming Headphones Open-Ear, with a rapid one-hour charge time readying you for your next session quickly.
• Best for mixed office/sport use → AMPACO Headset, given its sleeker profile and dual-wear capability that transitions well between professional and athletic settings.
• Best for comfort during extended wear → Sport Headphones Swimming Headphones Open-Ear, as the open-ear hook design avoids the pressure points common with in-ear buds.
After weighing the specifications and intended use cases, I would personally buy the AMPACO Headset if my primary goal was for study in a distracting environment. The ability to physically block out noise with an in-ear seal is a non-negotiable feature for deep work, and the IPX7 rating adds a layer of security for any accidental spills or unexpected swims. However, if I were strictly focused on running or cycling where hearing my surroundings is a matter of safety, I would switch to the Sport Headphones. The AMPACO unit wins on versatility and isolation, making it the more robust choice for a general-purpose device that handles both work and play, whereas the Sport Headphones are a specialized tool for the active athlete.
Yes, the AMPACO Headset is better for this because its in-ear design provides passive noise isolation, helping to block out background chatter. The open-ear Sport Headphones will let all ambient noise through, which can be distracting.
Both models claim waterproof capabilities, but the AMPACO Headset has an IPX7 rating, which generally confirms it can handle full submersion. The Sport Headphones are also built for water resistance but rely on an open-ear design that may behave differently underwater.
The Sport Headphones feature a flexible neckband and ear hooks specifically designed to stay secure during intense activity. The AMPACO Headset relies on a standard in-ear fit, which is also secure but lacks the external anchoring hooks of the sport model.
