If you want a cap designed for the broadest range of older Nissan and Infiniti models with a focus on long-term heat resistance, choose Amoread Black Coolant Reservoir; if you need a precise fit for newer 2013–2025 vehicles like the Altima or Pathfinder with verified dimensional specs, choose Oraivy 21712-ZN50A.
• Amoread Black Coolant Reservoir: Its biggest strength is an incredibly wide compatibility list covering dozens of specific model years from 2003 to 2020, but its trade-off is that it lacks specific dimensional data in the documentation. This pick is for owners of older Nissan and Infiniti vehicles who need a direct replacement for part number 21712-79900.
• Oraivy 21712-ZN50A: Its biggest strength is the inclusion of exact physical measurements (inner/outer diameter and height) and a focus on newer vehicle generations up to 2025, though its fitment list is significantly narrower. This pick is for drivers of modern 2013–2025 Altimas, Pathfinders, and Maximas who want to verify the size before buying.
• Both units are black caps made from high-temperature resistant plastic designed to maintain system pressure and prevent fluid loss.
The Amoread Black Coolant Reservoir Cap is built around a specific replacement strategy. If your vehicle uses the part number 21712-79900, this unit is engineered to be a direct swap. The manufacturer lists compatibility with a massive array of Nissan and Infiniti models, ranging from the early 2000s to as recently as 2020. You will find this cap fits everything from the classic 350Z and G35 sedans to the Rogue, Versa, and Quest vans. This makes it the ideal solution for enthusiasts restoring older cars or owners of vehicles that have been on the road for over a decade.
What stands out most about this design is its stated construction for harsh environments. The product description explicitly notes that the plastic is suitable for high temperatures and is not easily deformed or cracked under long-term exposure to engine compartment heat. This suggests a formulation meant to withstand the thermal cycling of daily driving in all weather conditions. For anyone whose car sits in the sun for hours or runs hot during summer commutes, the emphasis on preventing deformation is a key selling point. It functions to stably maintain cooling system internal pressure, which is critical for stopping coolant evaporation and avoiding the risk of engine overheating.
However, this product might not be the right choice if you drive a very recent model year outside its listed range or if you are unsure about the specific part number. While the list is extensive, it does not cover every single variation of the newer SUVs released after 2020. If your vehicle is a brand-new 2024 model that isn't explicitly listed in the compatibility section, relying on this cap could lead to installation issues. It is best suited for those who know their part number and need a robust, heat-resistant seal for a legacy platform.

The Oraivy 21712-ZN50A takes a different approach by focusing on precision and transparency regarding physical dimensions. Instead of just listing compatible models, the manufacturer provides specific measurements for the cap: an outer diameter of approximately 1.45 inches and an inner diameter of about 1.37 inches, with a height of roughly 0.41 inch. This level of detail is invaluable for buyers who want to measure their existing cap before ordering to ensure a perfect match. It eliminates the guesswork that often comes with generic replacements.
This cap is tailored specifically for the newer generation of Nissan and Infiniti vehicles. The compatibility list targets the 2011–2025 Nissan Altima, the 2013–2025 Pathfinder, and the 2011–2023 Maxima. It also covers specific Infiniti models like the JX35 and QX60. If you own one of these mid-to-late 2010s or current-generation vehicles, this part is likely the exact OEM-style replacement you need. The design emphasizes wear resistance and scratch resistance, suggesting a finish that holds up well against the elements and regular cleaning. The primary function remains the same as any quality cap: preventing liquid overflow during driving and maintaining stable pressure to improve overall driving safety.
The trade-off here is the limited scope of application. Because the dimensions and model list are so specific, this cap will not work on the older platforms covered by the Amoread option. If you have a 2008 Murano or a 2012 Leaf, this specific model number 21712-ZN50A is likely incompatible. It is strictly for those who have confirmed their vehicle falls into the newer production window and value knowing the exact physical footprint of the component they are installing.
• Best for older vehicles (2003–2018) → Choose Amoread Black Coolant Reservoir due to its deep coverage of legacy models like the G35, FX37, and early Rogue generations.
• Best for newer vehicles (2013–2025) → Choose Oraivy 21712-ZN50A because it is explicitly engineered for the latest Altima, Pathfinder, and Maxima trims.
• Best for dimension verification → Choose Oraivy 21712-ZN50A; it is the only one providing exact inner and outer diameter measurements in millimeters and inches.
• Best for heat durability claims → Choose Amoread Black Coolant Reservoir, which specifically highlights resistance to long-term high engine compartment heat and deformation.
• Best for broad model variety → Choose Amoread Black Coolant Reservoir, offering compatibility with over 20 distinct vehicle lines including the Juke, Quest, and NV series.
• Best for scratch and wear resistance → Choose Oraivy 21712-ZN50A, which explicitly mentions good fastness and strong durability characteristics for easy cleaning.
• Best for part number 21712-79900 → Choose Amoread Black Coolant Reservoir, as it is the designated replacement for this specific identifier.
• Best for part number 21712-ZN50A → Choose Oraivy 21712-ZN50A, matching the exact model number required for newer applications.
In my opinion, the Oraivy 21712-ZN50A is the smarter buy for most people today, primarily because it includes precise dimensional data that removes the anxiety of ordering the wrong part. Knowing exactly how wide the inner and outer diameters are gives me confidence that it will seat correctly on my newer vehicle. However, if you are driving an older model from the 2000s or early 2010s, the Amoread Black Coolant Reservoir is clearly the superior choice due to its extensive list of compatible legacy vehicles. Both caps are built to handle the stress of hot climates, but the Oraivy option feels more modern in its specification transparency. I would personally select the Oraivy cap for my current daily driver, provided it matches my model year, because the ability to verify the size beforehand is a significant advantage in online shopping.
Both caps are made from high-quality plastic designed for temperature resistance, but the Amoread sheet specifically emphasizes stability under long-term high engine compartment heat and resistance to deformation, making it a strong candidate for hot climates.
You should check your owner's manual or remove your old cap to see if it is stamped with 21712-79900 (for Amoread) or 21712-ZN50A (for Oraivy), then cross-reference your vehicle's make, model, and year against the compatibility lists provided above.
It is unlikely. The Oraivy 21712-ZN50A is specified for 2013–2025 models like the Altima and Pathfinder, whereas older models typically require the 21712-79900 standard found in the Amoread product line.
Based on the available product information, both the Amoread Black Coolant Reservoir and the Oraivy 21712-ZN50A are described as black units, matching the standard aesthetic for engine bay components.
