Dr. Amit Kumar received an M.Sc. in Physics (with specialized in Electronics) from C.S.J.M University, Kanpur, India and a PhD in Physics (Aerosol Science & Technology) from HBNI Mumbai. At present, Dr. Amit Kumar has been working as Scientific Officer - F at the Reactor Design Group (RDG), Indira Gandhi Center for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kakpakkam and Assistant Professor (Physical Sciences) in HBNI since January 2022. He joined IGCAR as a Trainee Officer in 2008 after completing training at the BARC training school at the IGCAR campus; he joined IGCAR as a scientific officer - C in 2009. He worked in IGCAR in various capacities as a Scientific Officer - C from 2009 - 2012, Scientific Officer - D from 2012 - 2017 and Scientific Officer - E from 2017 - 2022.
He received the Group Achievement Award in 2016 & Young Scientist Award in 2017 from the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) Government of India. Dr. Amit Kumar received the best presentation award four times at different conferences (NSRP, IASTA NHTS etc.). Amit Kumar is a lifetime member of the Indian Aerosol Science and Technology Association (IASTA), Indian Association for Radiation Protection (IARP), Indian Society for Radiation Physics (ISRP) and Indian Nuclear Society (INS). He has published over 100 publications in refereed International Journals and national and International conference proceedings. Dr. Amit is a regular reviewer for Environmental Pollutants and Bioavailability, Journal of Industrial Textiles, Journal of Aerosol Science, Annals of Nuclear Energy, PLoS ONE, Journal of Visualized Experiments, Infection and Drug Resistance, Combustion Science and Technology journals.
