Biography

Amit Phadikar received his B.E.(Hons)  in Computer Sci. & Engineering in 2002 from Vidyasagar University, W.B., M.Tech degree in Information Technology(Artificial Intelligence) in 2005 from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal, and PhD degree in Engg. (Information Technology) in 2011 from Bengal Engineering and and Science University (Renamed: Indian Institute of Engineering Science andTechnology (IIEST)), Shibpur, India.

Dr. Phadikar joined at Dept of Information Technology, MCKV Institute of Engineering, Liluah, Howrah, in 2005 as Lecturer  and thereafter re-designated as Lecturer (Sr. Scale) & Assistant Professor w.e.f. 1st October, 2010 and Associate Professor w.e.f. 1st December 2011 and Professor w.e.f. 1st December 2019. He has worked as a HOD in the same department from 12th January 2011 to 31st  December 2015 and TIC in the same department from 1st August 2008 to 31st December  2010. He worked in the Dept. of Information Technology since 30th September 2005 - 20th June 2023. Presently he is working as Principal, SBSS Mahavidyalaya, Goaltore, Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal. 

He also worked as a guest faculty in the Dept of Information Technology, Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur, Howrah, W.B., India and Dept of Information Technology, Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata, W.B., India.  During Oct, 2006- Oct, 2007, he did a collaborative research project work (Project Title: Video and Hard Copy Watermarking using Soft-Computing Methodology) with “Centre for Soft Computing Research-A National Facility”, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. He received National Scholarship (Through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)) for his M.Tech Study. He has contributed to about 70 research papers in reputed journals and conferences including IEEE Explore, Elsevier, Springer, World Scientific, Taylor & Francis, etc. two patent and three books are also in his credit. His research areas include digital image and signal processing, medical image processing, digital watermarking and multimedia security, image and video compression.

He is a member of International Association of Engineers (IAENG), Association of Computer, Electronics and Electrical Engineers (ACEEE), Internet Society (ISOC), Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA), and Society of Digital Information and Wireless Communications (SDIWC). His biography has been included in the “Who's Who in the World”, 2011 (28th Edition). He has worked as a reviewer of international journals and Conferences like Journal of Digital Forensic Practice (Taylor & Francis), Journal of Systems and Software(Elsevier), Information Security Journal: A Global Perspective(Taylor & Francis), IET Image Processing, IEEE Signal Processing Letters, Computers & Electrical Engineering (Elsevier), IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology,  Journal of Network and Computer Applications, Elsevier etc and   IEEE ARTCom-09, etc. He is selected as e-Govt faculty in the year 2013.
