Theoretical and experimental linguistics:

The Department of Linguistics, School of Philology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, is pleased to announce its 41st Annual Meeting to be held online on May 13-15, 2021. The topic of this year’s meeting is “Theoretical and experimental linguistics: a two-way interaction” and our invited speakers are Prof. Harald Clahsen (University of Potsdam) and Prof. George Tsoulas (University of York).

Pre-conference graduate workshop

A pre-conference postgraduate workshop will be held on the first day of the conference, 13th of May 2021.



2nd Call for papers

Dear Colleagues,

The Department of Linguistics, School of Philology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, is pleased to announce its 41st Annual Meeting to be held in Thessaloniki on May 7-9, 2020. The topic of this year’s meeting is “Theoretical and experimental linguistics: a two-way interaction” and our invited speakers are Prof. Harald Clahsen (University of Potsdam) and Prof. George Tsoulas (University of York).

We invite contributions which explore theoretical hypotheses by means of experimental testing and also papers presenting experimental findings with theoretical implications, from any area of linguistic analysis (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics and discourse analysis).

The papers may be oral or poster presentations. Each participant is entitled to submit up to two abstracts (single or joint), only one of which may be oral and only one of which may be single-authored. The papers may be presented either in Greek or in English and they will be 20 minutes long followed by a 10-minute discussion.

Those who wish to participate in the 41st Annual Meeting with a presentation are invited to electronically submit their abstracts as .pdf files to easychair (https://easychair.org/cfp/amgl41) by the 2nd of February 2020. The abstract should be free of self-citations. Please also indicate your preferred mode of presentation ("oral", "poster", "oral or poster") in the body of your abstract. If you wish to be considered for the pre-conference postgraduate workshop (see below), please indicate that too in the body of the abstract.

Submissions should be in the following format:

Title: centered

Length: One A4 page (excluding bibliography)

Font: Times New Roman 12pt

Space: single

Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) all sides

Notification of acceptance will be sent on the 1st of March 2020.

Pre-conference graduate workshop

A pre-conference postgraduate workshop will be held in parallel with the main conference on the first day of the conference, 7th of May 2020. Young researchers (e.g. postgraduate and doctoral students) are encouraged to submit an abstract on any area of Linguistics. State-of-the-art and review papers will not be accepted for presentation. The papers that will be accepted for presentation may be further submitted for publication in the Proceedings. The authors of the two best rated abstracts will be awarded a fee waiver.
