If you want compact wired in-ear listening for kids wireless is not the right match for this Bose; if you need wireless, open-ear listening for kids wireless use, choose ZOVIMAX Bone Conduction Headphones. For a child who needs to hear nearby activity, ZOVIMAX is the more suitable of these two—but neither product is specifically identified as a kids’ model.
• Amazon Renewed Bose SoundTrue’s strength: a lightweight, 18.14 g in-ear design with a 3.5 mm jack, media and call controls, and a protective case. Trade-off: it is wired and has no noise control.
• ZOVIMAX Bone Conduction Headphones’ strength: open-ear wireless listening, Bluetooth 6.0, up to 12 hours of playback, and IPX7 water resistance. Trade-off: its open-ear fit does not block surrounding sound, and it weighs 29 g.
• Choose Bose for wired listening with rounded in-ear tips and straightforward remote controls.
• Choose ZOVIMAX for wireless movement, outdoor awareness, and workouts where a wired connection would get in the way.
• For kids wireless use: ZOVIMAX fits the wireless requirement better, but both products list the age range as adult.
The Bose SoundTrue Ultra is a conventional in-ear headphone with rounded tips, a wired connection, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It weighs 18.14 g and includes a protective case. Its media and call controls are built into a wired remote, so the basic listening setup stays simple: connect the cable to a compatible device and use the remote for playback or calls.
That design suits someone who wants in-ear headphones for a compatible Apple-device setup and does not need Bluetooth. It may also appeal to a listener who prefers a small, traditional earbud style over a headband-style open-ear design. The product information describes its audio driver as dynamic and its frequency range as wide, but does not provide more detailed audio measurements. I would not treat that wording as proof of a particular sound profile or hi-res performance.
The compromises are clear. There is no wireless connection and no noise control, so this is not the pick for a cable-free commute, exercise session, or situation where blocking environmental sound is a priority. It is also listed for adults, not children. If you are shopping for wireless earbuds for office use, the cable and 3.5 mm connection make it a less natural fit than a Bluetooth model—assuming your device supports the connection you need.
ZOVIMAX takes a different approach: its open-ear design uses bone conduction rather than placing conventional earpieces inside the ear canal. It connects wirelessly over Bluetooth 6.0, weighs 29 g, and has a flexible titanium frame with a silicone coating. The open design is intended to leave the ears uncovered, which can help a listener remain aware of surrounding sounds during a walk, run, or other outdoor activity.
The feature set is geared toward movement and varied everyday use. ZOVIMAX lists up to 12 hours of playback, a two-hour charge time, dual-device connection, a low-latency Game Mode, and an LED display that shows remaining battery. Its IPX7 water resistance and sweat-resistant positioning make it more suited to exercise or wet-weather exposure than the wired Bose, based on the stated specifications. The Bluetooth range is listed as 10 meters.
The trade-off is that open-ear listening is not the same as isolating, in-ear listening. The product lists no noise control, and its open format deliberately leaves outside sound available to the listener. That can be useful for awareness, but it is a poor match if you want to shut out a busy room. ZOVIMAX is also described as an adult product, so its wireless design alone is not evidence that it is sized or intended for children. For a family considering kids wireless headphones, check fit and supervision needs rather than assuming the adult listing will suit a child.
How We Research
We compare products from their published specs and features; the verdicts below are our independent editorial opinions.
Side-by-Side: Which Should You Choose?
• Best for a wired connection → Amazon Renewed Bose SoundTrue. It has a 3.5 mm jack and a wired remote; ZOVIMAX is Bluetooth-only and has no headphone jack.
• Best for cable-free listening → ZOVIMAX Bone Conduction Headphones. Bluetooth 6.0 supports wireless use, while the Bose relies on a cable.
• Best for outdoor awareness → ZOVIMAX. Its open-ear format leaves the ear canal unobstructed, unlike Bose’s in-ear design.
• Best for a compact, light listed weight → Bose. At 18.14 g, it is lighter than ZOVIMAX at 29 g, though the products sit differently on the head.
• Best for extended playback between charges → ZOVIMAX. Its stated battery life is up to 12 hours, while the Bose is wired and has no battery-life figure.
• Best for sweat and rain exposure → ZOVIMAX. It lists IPX7 water resistance; no comparable water-resistance specification is provided for Bose.
• Best for calls and simple wired controls → Bose. It includes media and call control through its wired remote.
• Best for a child who specifically needs wireless use → ZOVIMAX, with a fit caveat. Neither is listed for children, but only ZOVIMAX offers wireless listening. Confirm the fit and keep the adult age-range designation in mind.
There is no meaningful spec-based winner for hi res headphones here. The Bose information gives a broad frequency-range description but no resolution or codec details; the ZOVIMAX sheet lists its driver type and dual-driver design but does not specify hi-res certification or supported audio codecs. If high-resolution playback is a deciding requirement, neither listing establishes it.
In my opinion, I would choose ZOVIMAX for the more flexible everyday setup: it is wireless, open-ear, and rated for up to 12 hours of playback, with IPX7 water resistance for active use.
That makes it the more practical of these two for outdoor listening and for kids wireless use when a cable-free design matters.
I would still check fit carefully because the product is listed for adults, not children.
I’d choose Bose instead when I specifically wanted a wired in-ear pair with a 3.5 mm connection and remote controls.
No. The listed connection is wired, with a 3.5 mm jack and a wired remote. They do not provide Bluetooth listening.
Their open-ear design, Bluetooth connection, flexible frame, and IPX7 water resistance are features aimed at active use. They are described as an adult product, so fit should be considered before choosing them for a child.
The available specifications do not establish a clear sound-quality winner or confirm hi-res support for either model. Bose lists a dynamic driver and a wide frequency range; ZOVIMAX lists bone conduction and a dual-driver audio design, but neither sheet supplies detailed resolution or codec information.

Amazon Renewed Bose SoundTrue vs ZOVIMAX Bone Conduction Headphones at a Glance
• ZOVIMAX Bone Conduction Headphones’ strength: wireless, open-ear listening with Bluetooth 6.0, up to 12 hours of playback, and IPX7 water resistance. Trade-off: its open design does not block surrounding sound, and it weighs 29 g.
• Choose Bose for traditional wired listening and direct controls for media and calls.
• Choose ZOVIMAX for wireless movement, outdoor awareness, and workouts where a cable would get in the way.
• For kids wireless use: ZOVIMAX better fits the wireless requirement, but both products list an adult age range.
The Bose SoundTrue Ultra is a conventional in-ear headphone with rounded tips, a wired connection, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It weighs 18.14 g and includes a protective case. Media and call controls sit on the wired remote, giving you a straightforward setup: connect it to a compatible device and control playback or calls from the cable.
This design makes sense for someone who prefers wired in-ear headphones and has a device with a compatible jack. It may also suit a listener who wants a light, compact-feeling alternative to a headband-style design. The product information identifies a dynamic driver and describes the frequency range as wide, but it does not provide detailed audio measurements. That description alone does not establish a particular sound signature or hi-res capability.
The main limitation is the cable. This is not the choice for someone who wants Bluetooth freedom during exercise or a cable-free commute. There is also no listed noise control, and the in-ear design is a different fit from ZOVIMAX’s open-ear style. The product is listed for adults, not children. If you’re searching for wireless earbuds for office use, Bose’s wired connection may be inconvenient, especially if your device lacks a 3.5 mm jack.
ZOVIMAX uses an open-ear bone-conduction design rather than placing conventional earpieces inside the ear canal. It connects over Bluetooth 6.0 and weighs 29 g. The product information describes a flexible titanium frame with a silicone coating. Because the ears remain uncovered, the design is suited to listeners who want to hear nearby sounds while listening to music, taking calls, or exercising outdoors.
Its listed features lean toward active use. ZOVIMAX claims up to 12 hours of playback and a two-hour charging time. It also lists dual-device connection, a low-latency Game Mode, and an LED display showing remaining battery. The product is rated IPX7 for water resistance and is positioned for sweat and outdoor use. Its stated Bluetooth range is 10 meters.
The trade-off is that open-ear listening does not isolate you from a noisy environment. The headphones list no noise control, so they’re not designed to shut out office chatter or other surrounding sounds. They are also heavier than the Bose according to the listed weights. ZOVIMAX is described as an adult product, so a wireless connection does not mean it is specifically sized or intended for children. If you’re considering it for kids wireless use, check fit rather than assuming the adult listing will suit a child.
• Best for a wired connection → Amazon Renewed Bose SoundTrue. It has a 3.5 mm jack and wired remote; ZOVIMAX connects over Bluetooth and has no headphone jack.
• Best for cable-free listening → ZOVIMAX Bone Conduction Headphones. Bluetooth 6.0 supports wireless use, while Bose relies on a cable.
• Best for keeping your ears uncovered outdoors → ZOVIMAX. Its open-ear design leaves the ear canal unobstructed; Bose uses rounded in-ear tips.
• Best for the lower listed weight → Bose. It weighs 18.14 g compared with ZOVIMAX at 29 g, though the two designs sit differently.
• Best for stated playback time → ZOVIMAX. It lists up to 12 hours of playback; the wired Bose does not need a battery for listening.
• Best for sweat and rain exposure → ZOVIMAX. It has an IPX7 water-resistance rating; no water-resistance specification is provided for Bose.
• Best for wired calls and media controls → Bose. It includes call and media controls on its remote.
• Best for a child who specifically needs wireless listening → ZOVIMAX, with a fit caveat. It is the only wireless option here, but both products are listed for adults.
The available information does not establish a clear winner for hi res headphones. Bose lists a dynamic driver and a wide frequency range, but no resolution or codec details. ZOVIMAX describes a dual-driver design, but its specifications likewise do not confirm hi-res support or list audio codecs. If high-resolution playback is essential, neither product’s provided specifications confirm that requirement.
In my opinion, I’d choose ZOVIMAX for a more flexible everyday setup: it is wireless, open-ear, and rated for up to 12 hours of playback, with IPX7 water resistance for active use.
It is the stronger fit of these two for outdoor listening and for kids wireless use when a cable-free design matters.
I would check the fit carefully, since the product is listed for adults rather than children.
I’d choose Bose instead if I specifically wanted wired in-ear headphones with a 3.5 mm connection and remote controls.
No. They use a wired connection with a 3.5 mm jack and a wired remote. Bluetooth is not listed.
Their open-ear design, Bluetooth connection, flexible frame, and IPX7 water resistance are features suited to active use. They are listed for adults, so consider fit before choosing them for a child.
Bose lists call controls on its wired remote. ZOVIMAX offers Bluetooth and dual-device connection. Neither product lists noise control, so neither is specified to block out office noise.
The listed specifications do not establish a clear sound-quality winner or confirm hi-res support for either model. Bose lists a dynamic driver and a wide frequency range; ZOVIMAX lists bone conduction and a dual-driver design, but neither provides detailed resolution or codec information.
