If you want superior sound quality with active noise cancellation and all-day battery life for your daily commute or gym sessions, choose Amazon Renewed Sennheiser CX Plus; if you need a versatile wired-and-wireless combo with high-resolution audio codecs and a secure in-ear fit for professional monitoring or long listening sessions, choose MEE audio MX1.
• Amazon Renewed Sennheiser CX Plus: Offers true wireless freedom with Active Noise Cancellation and 24 hours of total playtime, but relies on an in-ear seal that may not suit everyone's preference for open ears during intense workouts.
• MEE audio MX1 PRO: Delivers exceptional audio fidelity with LDAC and aptX support plus a unique dual-mode wired/wireless design, though it requires managing a separate Bluetooth adapter and has a shorter single-battery runtime of 14 hours.
• Best for the gym: The Sennheiser wins on convenience for rechargeable open ear headphones for gym use where noise isolation helps focus, while the MEE audio offers a locked-in fit for ear clip headphones for gym environments that demand zero lag and maximum security.
• Who each pick is for: Choose the Sennheiser if you prioritize seamless connectivity and smart features; choose the MEE audio if you are an audiophile who wants customization and the option to go fully wired when the battery runs out.
The Amazon Renewed Sennheiser CX Plus True Wireless Earbuds are designed for the listener who refuses to compromise on audio fidelity while demanding the convenience of a completely untethered experience. Powered by Sennheiser's proprietary TrueResponse transducer, these earbuds deliver a wide range of Bluetooth codec support including AAC, aptX, and aptX Adaptive. This means that whether you are streaming from a smartphone or a tablet, the audio signal remains crisp and detailed. The inclusion of Active Noise Cancellation is a standout feature, allowing you to block out the chaotic hum of a busy gym or a crowded train. You can also switch to Transparent Hearing mode instantly, which lets external sounds in so you remain aware of your surroundings without removing the earbuds. This duality makes them incredibly versatile for anyone who needs to transition quickly between focused listening and situational awareness.
Comfort is a major selling point here, as the design is explicitly engineered for extended wear. The package includes four sizes of silicone ear adapters (XS, S, M, L), ensuring that almost any ear shape can find a secure and comfortable fit. This ergonomic approach supports the IPX4 rating, meaning they can withstand sweat and light rain, making them a solid choice for exercise. With a battery life that boasts up to 8 hours on a single charge and an additional 16 hours provided by the charging case, you get a total of 24 hours of music playtime. This capacity ensures that even on your longest workout days or travel schedules, you won't be tethered to a power outlet. The Smart Control App further enhances the experience by allowing you to customize touch controls for calls, music, and voice assistants like Siri or Google Assistant, putting you firmly in control of your audio environment.

This product is ideal for the user who wants a premium, "set it and forget it" experience. If you are looking for rechargeable open ear headphones for gym activities where you want to feel the rhythm without the distraction of background noise, the CX Plus delivers. The bass boost feature, adjustable via the app, allows you to dial in the low-end punch you crave for high-energy tracks. However, you should skip this option if you prefer a non-in-ear design or if you absolutely require a physical cable backup in case your battery dies mid-workout. It is also less suitable if you are strictly budget-conscious regarding accessories, as you are buying into a self-contained ecosystem rather than a modular system.
The MEE audio MX1 PRO Musicians' In-Ear Monitors represent a different philosophy entirely: modularity and high-fidelity performance. This kit is built for the listener who values the option to switch between wired and wireless modes seamlessly. The core component is the set of dynamic driver IEMs, which utilize a single full-range driver tuned for balanced audio performance. While the driver size is 10 millimeters, the tuning prioritizes clarity and crisp detail across the entire frequency spectrum, making them suitable for a wide range of applications from casual listening to critical monitoring. The standout feature is the included BT3 Hi-Res Bluetooth Audio Adapter. This small device plugs into the IEMs and unlocks wireless capability without sacrificing the sonic depth and dynamics of the monitors themselves. It supports advanced codecs like LDAC and the entire Qualcomm aptX family, including aptX HD and aptX Lossless, which is rare to find at this price point and level of integration.
Battery life for the wireless mode is rated at 14 hours on a single charge, which is substantial but falls short of the Sennheiser's total combined time. However, the beauty of the MX1 PRO lies in its redundancy. If the BT3 adapter battery dies, you simply unplug it and use the included stereo audio cable or headset cable with a mic/remote to continue listening without interruption. This eliminates the anxiety of being cut off mid-song. The fit is secured by flexible earhooks and a sliding cable cinch, keeping the monitors comfortably and securely in place during vigorous movement. For those seeking ear clip headphones for gym routines where absolute security is paramount, the combination of the earhook design and the optional custom-fit eartips (sold separately) creates a locked-in sensation that prevents slippage. The kit is comprehensive, including memory foam Comply tips, silicone tips, shirt clips, and a carrying case, ensuring you have everything needed for immediate use.
This product is perfect for the audiophile or musician who wants a professional-grade sound signature with the flexibility of modern wireless tech. If you are someone who appreciates the ability to personalize your gear—such as ordering custom-fit eartips engraved with metal faceplates—the MX1 PRO offers a level of customization the Sennheiser does not. It is also excellent for users who dislike the feeling of deep in-ear seals and prefer the slight isolation of a monitor-style fit. However, you must accept the trade-off of managing a separate Bluetooth dongle and the extra step of connecting it before going wireless. It is not the best choice for someone who wants a simple, one-pair-of-earbuds solution with no accessories to manage.

• Best for ease of use: Amazon Renewed Sennheiser CX Plus provides a streamlined app-controlled experience with touch controls, requiring fewer steps to operate than the MEE audio setup.
After weighing the specifications and use cases, I would personally buy the Amazon Renewed Sennheiser CX Plus for my own daily needs. The combination of Active Noise Cancellation and the sheer convenience of having 24 hours of battery life in a single, compact package makes it the more practical choice for modern life. While the MEE audio MX1 PRO is a technical marvel for audiophiles, the complexity of managing the BT3 adapter feels unnecessary for general consumption. For the specific purpose of using them for gym workouts, the Sennheiser's seamless wireless nature and sweat resistance make it the superior tool for staying focused and motivated. If you prioritize simplicity and immersion, this is the winner.
The Amazon Renewed Sennheiser CX Plus carries an IPX4 rating, which protects against sweat and light rain, making them safe for intense gym sessions. The MEE audio MX1 PRO is not explicitly rated for water resistance, so caution is advised during heavy perspiration.
Yes, the MEE audio MX1 PRO includes stereo and headset cables, allowing you to use the earphones in a fully wired mode with any device that has a 3.5mm headphone jack, preserving sound quality without battery dependency.
The Amazon Renewed Sennheiser CX Plus is the clear choice for noise blocking because it features Active Noise Cancellation technology that electronically cancels out ambient sound, unlike the passive isolation offered by the MEE audio.
No, the MEE audio MX1 PRO features a dedicated remote with volume control on the headset cable, and the BT3 adapter also includes integrated controls for phone calls and music playback without requiring a smartphone app for basic operation.
