Designs for members of Sam's unnamed species
Designs for the Oniba enemy. Oniba, On-ion, Onhiba, Garliba. Goomba-inspired onion enemy. They have infinite defense and perform an attack based on which kind of Oniba they are. Once you attack it a single time, though, it sheds its skin and it loses its invincibility. Garliba splits into several more enemies.
Lightning Bug enemy
Sandwich enemy. I imagine it sounds like an accordion! Potential variant ideas include the aforementioned accordion, a stack of pancakes, or a hamburger.
Reed/Bamboo/Pasta enemy. Shrubble Knight uses the blue one as a staff. They drop the pasta item for cooking
Earlier design for the Ratctangle enemy. Their gimmick is that they rotate and it changes their behavior in battle. Also based on computer mice.

Script Kitty. Their battle gimmick is that they mess with the game itself
Presumed final form of a Script Kitty. Their tails can interface with technology, and they use Ratctangles as computer mice. It would be funny if they secretly created suspicious looking files on the player's computer during battle, Maybe a user profile on Windows. Maybe they could detect what OS you're using and diss you if you don't use Linux

Redesigned ants. De-anthrofied them as to not step on Bug Fables' toes, and because the game already has enough humanoid species. They also needed to be smaller to fit in the tiny area properly. Also, Shrubble Knight in pajamas

Onistella. A probably scrapped idea for an Oniba partner.
Ant partner. He's a prince. Currently hasn't been redesigned to fit the new smaller ants. He fights with a lance and he can fly. He's the prince of the colony. His special ability is to fly for short periods of time, and smell things. Considering scrapping him due to his similarity with Sam and other partners, and it'll be hard to have a regular ant fight with a lance. I'll probably just redesign him into a different species and backstory, though.

Designs for the Bumbler enemies. Bumbler, Tumbler, Crumbler, Bumblebur. The fancy one is not a subspecies; rather a character. Pokey inspired stacking enemy
Design of Antha, who belongs to a species that is the dream world counterpart of Sam's. She's also Sam's counterpart individual specifically!

Rarchord Grarchordson lifting up Shrubble Knight to demonstrate scale. Rarchord Grarchordson is the main antagonist of the Shrubble Knight series.
Shrubble Knight transformations, like in the Wario Land series. He unlocks these abilities to get around. Sequence-breaking can involve getting these early, or skipping them entirely.
Even later Cate design than the ones featured above. Give her a bit of hip and boob back, but shaped differently than Sam. Made her look more expressive and cat-like, too.

It's a Lacktoast eating bacteria, and also a computer infection. I intend to make a computer "bug" an "virus" enemy in a similar vein, which are all Script Kitty allies.

Andrinoid "skeletons". Andrinoids are a fusion of robotic technology and golem magic.
Sam is one of Shrubble Knights party members later on. She comes from a cave-dwelling bug/mammal hybrid species. They wear robes to protect their light-sensitive exoskeltons. Sam's abilities include magic, springing/grappling/attacking with her tail, and she's immune to jumping attacks because of her horns. She takes triple damage from fire/heat attacks, though, and her attack power is halved outside of dark rooms. She's also a princess. She's depicted with wings in some concept art, but she's not supposed to have any.
Souls
Earlier, lankier iteration of bats. Scrapped for art style consistency; smaller creatures should be made of bigger and less complex shapes
Princess Nuts design. She is the democratically elected leader of the Nuts Kingdom. She's a member of Shrubble Knight's party, but only when she's not busy with paperwork. Her special ability is to drive enemies nuts.
Some item ideas. Both used in battle and for cooking. Onions are dropped by Oniba. I think I want to make a pepper subspecies of Oniba.
Design evolution for some characters. Featuring Somber Knight, plant partner, Shrubble Knight's brother, Cate, Sam, Shrubble Knight, and Oniba
Potential Cate redesign. Slimmed down curviness to make her less similar to Sam, since I think having two voluptuous black and yellow women with big triangle ears and long thin tails is a bit too similar to abide. Cate is the Cook NPC in Shrubble Knight's home town, and will be his first party member if you don't sequence-break. No special ability outside of being a Cooking NPC.
Luca, Cate's older sister. Using Cate's scrapped rig shapes so they don't go to waste. Completely different visual design, but she's the same character as Lucat, Cate's previous older sister. She's the Barista NPC in Las Agna.
Prarchord redesign demonstration (On the right). On the left is "Cute Prarchord", which I felt kind of goes against Prarchord's identity as a strange and unknowable being.
Ratctangle redesign, removing its limbs. I prefer the more streamlined shape, and it communicates the idea of the enemy better. I might remove the teeth and ears, too.

Toaster enemy. It transforms Toasts and uses them as weapons. If you use a jumping attack on one while it's empty you'll get stuck inside for one turn then come out with the burned status on the next
Fire Fly enemy to pair with the Lightning Bug
Various town-specific service NPCs. The one from Antha's species needs a Sam species counterpart, still, since he doesn't have one. Cathan 2.0 doesn't need one since coffee is banned in the Dream World.

Somber Knight, the undead brother of the very first Shrubble Knight from over 1000 years ago. Every time Rarchord Grarchordson returns, he's there with him, ready to take revenge against the newest Shrubble Knight. He's one of the main antagonists throughout the game.
Dr. Coque Bloquer. A scrapped ally of Rarchord Grarchordson who would confront you regularly, inspired by Fawful and Dr. Eggman. Originally was going to replace Rarcord Grarchordson's scientist personality trait with a new character.
Pop bottle, Oniba redesigns (squarer boots), Loan Shark redesign, bell pepper oniba idea (it has a stem but it's hard to see),and sodapop oniba idea
Current designs for all planned partners, including experimental electrician redesigns for Shrubble Knight and his brother to fall inline more with their Mario Bros. inspirations! But, also ditched the white gloves, so that kinda makes them less Mario & Luigi-y at the same time. Also, give Shrubble Knight the yellow color instead of blue finally, since I think it fits him better, and yellow is my favorite color so I wanna give it to the main protagonist 10/18/2024
All designs for bugs currently in the game, with a heavy asterisk. I consider Sam's species to be bug/mammal hybrids, and the bacteria enemy is in the same design family as the bugs even though not shown here. Also, snails aren't bugs, but it IS shown here. Notable new inclusions here are: Caterpillars, snails, and (yet another redesign, simplified to match the current bug design family better), and gnuts (they're peanut gnats!) Side-note, in real life even though gnats and mosquitos look pretty similar, I think gnats are way cuter. Mosquitos are cooler and more elegant, though
Gave Cate Shrubble Knight's new yellow color (I like to reduce the global palette as much as possible), and oh my god it looks soooooo much fucking better than the bright neon-ass radioactive yellow she's had this whole time. It was originally a bit too orange for proper Cate vibes, so I made it a bit yellowier to compensate (I changed it for SK too, of course). While I was at it, I also reduced her forehead size
