Research Projects

My book Prosas de soberanía y emancipación: las declaraciones de independencia de las Provincias Unidas en Sud-América (1816), de Chile (1818) y de Brasil (1822) was published by Sello Editorial Universidad de Santiago in 2009. It is a interpretative essay on the genealogy, trajectory and emancipation of the political community narrated by the declarations of independence of United Provinces in South-America (1816), Chile (1818) and Brazil (1822). I explored the creation of that community over the discourse of its emancipation that brought together issues of sovereignty, history and representation. In all of them, a prose of emancipation shapes the emergence of a political, cultural and historical protagonist framed by notions of history, order and law articulated by the text itself.

Currently, I am working on two projects. The first one is an approach to a corpus of economic essays written in Spanish and in Portuguese during the last decade of the eighteenth century in both sides of the Iberian Atlantic world. It involves a reflection upon the crisis of the Peninsular Empires in order to come up with a program to face a world in transition based in the long cultural Iberian genealogies. My second area of current research focuses on postcolonial genocide, disciplinary writing and subaltern figures in 19th century Latin American literature and historiography.
