I'm saying this as I listen to Castle by Halsey and one of my alters who thinks of herself of royalty or godlike is trying to push herself out and I was just wondering if it's something that happens to anyone else, like if their alters try to come out or at least co-lead whenever one of their favourite songs are on

Alter played in vaudeville houses as the accompanist for the headliners Irne Bordoni and Nora Bayes. He appeared with Bayes from 1924 until her death in 1928, touring the United States and abroad.[1] Since he had previously written some songs for Broadway shows, Alter decided to concentrate on songwriting after her death. His first hit was "Manhattan Serenade" (1929), originally an instrumental that later became the theme music of the Easy Aces radio program. There are numerous recordings of "Manhattan Serenade" and it was featured prominently in Nancy Groce's book, New York: Songs of the City (Watson-Guptill, 1999). Alter recalled, "I was a great fan of Whiteman when I first came down here from Boston. He was the first big name I actually followed around and met. I was having a love affair with New York when Whiteman commissioned me to write a tone poem. I walked around this city for six months absorbing the sights and sounds. And then suddenly it came to me. Once I plunged into it I finished it in two hours."[2]

In 1929, Alter moved to Hollywood, where he wrote songs for films, beginning with The Hollywood Review of 1929. He continued to provide piano accompaniment for various singers, including Beatrice Lillie and Helen Morgan. His contributions to Broadway musicals included songs in Sweet and Low (1930) and Ballyhoo (1931).

His first song hit was "Hugs and Kisses" in 1926. In 1928, he composed the music and wrote the lyrics of Paris. Other top tunes by Alter include "My Kinda Love", "You Turned the Tables on Me", "Nina Never Knew", "Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans" (for the 1947 film New Orleans), "Blue Shadows" and "Rainbow on the River". He wrote "A Melody from the Sky" and "Twilight on the Trail" for The Trail of the Lonesome Pine (1936). His collaborators included Oscar Hammerstein II, Charlotte Kent, Raymond Klages, Sidney D. Mitchell and Jo Trent.

Main outcomes and measures:  The main outcome was the effectiveness of music interventions in reducing anxiety in this patient population. Meta-analysis was pursued using data from studies that had used the Spielberger state anxiety inventory (STAI-S) to measure anxiety reduction. Other outcomes qualitatively reported include the use of anxiolytic medications and effect on physiological parameters such as blood pressure and heart rate.

Results:  A total of 15 studies were found to be eligible for inclusion (14 published trials and one conference abstract) in this review. Two-thirds of these studies showed statistically significant reduction in measures of patient anxiety or well-being with musical interventions. Meta-analysis included six studies (n = 695) and showed statistically significant reduction in mean STAI-S scores with music (-3.95 points; 95% confidence -5.53 and -2.37; p value less than 0.005).

Conclusion and relevance:  In conclusion, music is a safe and easily administered intervention that can be used for anxiety reduction among patients undergoing cardiac catheterization. Further research is needed to better evaluate the clinical implications associated with the anxiolytic effects of music interventions during cardiac catheterization.

Howard King, lead attorney for Thicke and Williams, told jurors in closing arguments that a verdict for the Gaye family would have a chilling effect on musicians' trying to evoke an era or create an homage to the sound of earlier musicians. Williams contended during the trial that he was only trying to mimic the "feel" of Gaye's late 1970s music, but insisted he did not use elements of his idol's work.

"The Gaye verdict is precedential in that whereas prior to today, it was generally understood that paying homage to musical influences was an acceptable, and indeed commonplace way of conducting business and even showing respect for one's musical idols, after today, doubt has been cast on where the line will be drawn for copyright infringement purposes," Rothstein said.

"Unfortunately, today's jury verdict has blurred the lines between protectable elements of a musical composition and the unprotectable musical style or groove exemplified by Marvin Gaye," said Larry Iser, an intellectual property lawyer who has represented numerous musicians, including Jackson Browne and David Byrne, in music copyright cases. "Although Gaye was the Prince of Soul, he didn't own a copyright to the genre, and Thicke and Williams' homage to the feel of Marvin Gaye is not infringing."

"While Mr. Williams' lawyer suggested in his closing argument that the world would come to an end, and music would cease to exist if they were found liable, I still see the sun shining. I still see the wind blowing, and I still see the clouds in the sky. The world has not come to an end," Busch said after the verdict. "The music industry will go on."

Williams is a seven-time Grammy Award winner whose songs he's either performed or produced have sold more than 100 million copies worldwide. His hit "Happy" has helped make him a household name, as has his work as a judge on NBC's music competition show, "The Voice."

Note: I only started playing music a few weeks ago. It would be very nice if you could explain or avoid technical terms and symbols, as I just know the basics of reading sheet music and often require my (digital) piano's software to help me interpret it still.

Convert the octave to a fifth. I write my own music and I can verify I rarely (if ever) use octaves. As leftroundabout mentioned it only thickens the noise, and with the synthesizer instruments I use, those can actually introduce all sorts of unwanted and unexpected extra frequencies.
