If you want headphones for swimming, choose Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise; if you need a Bluetooth adapter for a car or wired audio system, choose ESSAGER Car Adapter. They solve different problems: one is a child-focused pair of on-ear headphones, while the other adds Bluetooth connectivity to compatible equipment.
For swimming, the Altec Lansing’s IPX4 sweat resistance is a relevant feature, but it is not a claim that the headphones are waterproof or suitable for immersion. The ESSAGER is for routing audio through a 3.5 mm connection, not for wearing as headphones.
• Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise: Its main strength is a child-focused headphone design with active noise cancellation, an 85 dB volume limit, and IPX4 sweat resistance. Its trade-off is that sweat resistance does not make it a swimming or underwater headphone.
• ESSAGER Car Adapter: Its main strength is adding Bluetooth audio and hands-free calling through a 3.5 mm AUX connection. Its trade-off is that it needs compatible wired equipment and does not function as a standalone pair of headphones.
• Choose Altec Lansing for a child who needs on-ear listening, volume limiting, and a foldable design.
• Choose ESSAGER for connecting a phone or other Bluetooth source to a compatible car stereo, wired headphones, or other wired audio gear.
Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise is an on-ear wireless headphone set designed for children ages 7 and up. Its active noise cancellation is meant to reduce the distraction of surrounding sound, which may be useful during travel, in a busy household, or while a child listens to music, movies, or educational content. The 85 dB volume limit is the feature that most clearly sets its use case: it is built around limiting listening volume for young users.
The foldable design makes it easier to pack into a backpack or luggage, and soft ear cushions with an adjustable headband are intended to support longer listening sessions. Bluetooth gives a child a wireless listening option; a 3.5 mm jack also allows a wired connection. That combination gives families flexibility when they want to use a cable instead of relying on a wireless connection.
The listed battery information needs a careful reading. The product description refers to 15 hours of battery life, while the product information lists an average battery life of 10 days without explaining the usage conditions behind that figure. I would not treat the 10-day entry as a clear estimate of continuous playback. It is sensible to view the stated 15-hour figure as the more useful reference for planning a trip, while remembering that actual battery time can depend on use.
For swimming, the important distinction is IPX4 sweat resistance. That supports use around sweat and active play, but it does not establish that the headphones can be submerged or used while swimming. A parent looking for headphones for swimming should not interpret this feature as waterproof protection. The set is better suited to everyday listening and travel than to wearing in a pool.
Who should skip it: Skip these if you need headphones for underwater use, or if you are shopping for an adult rather than a child-focused on-ear design.
How We Research
We compare products from their published specs and features; the verdicts below are our independent editorial opinions.
ESSAGER Car Adapter is a Bluetooth receiver/transmitter with a 3.5 mm AUX connection. Its purpose is to bridge wireless audio and equipment that uses a wired audio connection. The listed compatible devices include car stereos, home audio gear, wired headphones and speakers, as well as phones, tablets, laptops, and televisions. In practice, the key question is whether the audio equipment you want to use has the appropriate 3.5 mm connection.
For calls, the adapter has a built-in microphone and an MFB button for answering, redialing, ending, or rejecting calls. Its CVC8.0 noise reduction and DSP are intended to reduce interference such as traffic, wind, or crowd noise during calls. Those features make it more relevant to someone who wants hands-free calling in a car than to someone simply looking for a new pair of headphones. It also lists low latency as a feature, although the data does not provide a measured delay.
The stated working time is up to 12–15 hours for calls or music playback, with a full charge taking two hours using the included Type-C cable. Its Bluetooth 5.3 connection has a listed range of up to 10 meters, or about 33 feet; beyond that, the connection may disconnect. The flexible 3.5 mm port is intended to make placement easier in corners or tight spaces and to reduce strain on the connected audio port.
This is not a child-safe listening device, and it does not have the Altec Lansing’s stated 85 dB volume limit or on-ear cushions. It is a small audio adapter, not a headset. A shopper searching for a with microphone bluetooth headset for swimming should not mistake its microphone and Bluetooth features for a wearable swimming headset. Nothing in its listed specifications indicates water or sweat resistance.
Who should skip it: Skip this adapter if you need standalone headphones, a child-focused volume limit, or a product specified for swimming or exposure to water.
• Best fit for a child’s everyday listening → Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise. It is designed for ages 7 and up and includes an 85 dB volume limit.
• Best for active noise cancellation in an on-ear headphone → Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise. The ESSAGER’s noise reduction is described for calls, not as headphone ANC for listening.
• Best for adding Bluetooth to a compatible wired stereo → ESSAGER Car Adapter. Its 3.5 mm AUX connection is the central part of its design.
• Best for hands-free calls through a compatible setup → ESSAGER Car Adapter. It includes a microphone and an MFB button for call controls.
• Best for packing a child’s headphones for travel → Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise. Its foldable design is made for portability, and it can connect by Bluetooth or by 3.5 mm cable.
• Best for connecting to a car stereo or wired headphones → ESSAGER Car Adapter. It is designed to connect with compatible equipment that uses AUX.
• Best for swimming-related use → Neither is established as a swimming product. Altec Lansing lists IPX4 sweat resistance, but that is not a specification for submersion. ESSAGER has no listed water-resistance rating.
• Best voice assistant on ear headphones for swimming → Neither can be confirmed from the listed features. Altec Lansing is the on-ear headphone option, but the data does not specify voice-assistant support or suitability for swimming.
Buying Considerations
Next, check the connection on the equipment you plan to use. Altec Lansing offers Bluetooth and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. ESSAGER relies on a 3.5 mm AUX connection to link with wired audio equipment. If your car stereo or headphones do not have the required AUX connection, the adapter may not solve your problem.
Also separate noise features from one another. Altec Lansing lists active noise cancellation for listening. ESSAGER lists noise reduction and DSP for improving call audio. Those descriptions point to different tasks; they do not mean both products reduce surrounding sound in the same way.
Finally, keep water exposure in perspective. Altec Lansing’s IPX4 rating addresses sweat resistance, not swimming or submersion. ESSAGER has no listed water-resistance specification. If your main goal is equipment to wear in a pool, neither data sheet establishes that either product is suitable for that use.
In my opinion, I would choose Altec Lansing Kid Safe Noise if I were buying for a child who needs on-ear listening, a volume limit, and a foldable design. It is the more relevant of these two for a family considering swimming-related use, but IPX4 sweat resistance is not proof that it can be worn in the water.
For swimming itself, I would not treat either option as a confirmed swimming product. I would choose ESSAGER only when my actual need was Bluetooth audio or hands-free calling through compatible wired equipment.
The listed rating is IPX4 sweat resistance. That does not establish that the headphones can be submerged or used in a pool, so the specifications do not support calling them waterproof swimming headphones.
The listed compatibility includes wired headphones, and the adapter has a 3.5 mm AUX connection. Check that the specific headphones and audio source you want to connect use a compatible 3.5 mm connection.
ESSAGER has a built-in microphone and an MFB button for call controls. The Altec Lansing information provided does not list a microphone, so it should not be selected on the assumption that it supports calling.
Altec Lansing is the more suitable match for that use because it is designed for children ages 7 and up, has an 85 dB volume limit, and folds for packing. Its Bluetooth and 3.5 mm options also give a choice between wireless and wired listening.
