From DMT neuroscience to metaphysical beliefs: can psychedelics provide insights into consciousness?

Talk date & time :

Sunday 11:30-12:30

Abstract:

Whether mystical, cathartic, or insightful, the psychedelic experience provides feelings of deep insights and understanding of human consciousness, which may also lead to some of their therapeutic benefits. Based on our recent fMRI, EEG and survey studies involving DMT, 5-MeO-DMT and other psychedelics we will explore in what way these compounds may provide valuable insights into consciousness for both users and researchers. We will also explore some of the key outstanding questions in psychedelic science, and how they shape practical and ethical implications in an age of accelerating mainstream interest of these compounds.
