Important: Please ensure that your docking station or video adapter are DisplayLink powered and have DisplayLink chip built into it. You should be able to see a sticker with DisplayLink logo on the product. You should also see instructions in the user manual or on the manufacturers website to download and install DisplayLink software.

I have a Dell Inspiron 7520 and a Dell D3000 docking station connected through the USB 3.0 port. Before updating to Windows 10 (I was using Windows 7), everything worked fine. Two monitors were connected to the docking station (one through the HDMI and one through the DVI port) and my laptop used all three displays just fine.

After updating to Windows 10, no monitors that are connected through the docking station are detected. The monitors are detected if I plug them directly into the laptop's HDMI or VGA ports. However, other USB devices (e.g. keyboard, mouse) still function properly through the docking station. Only the display monitors seem not to be detected.

I have a laptop connected to two dell monitors via usb to docking station. What worked for me was disconnecting the USB that connects to the docking station, closing the lid, waiting a few seconds and then plugging the usb back in.

With a USB-C connection, you can charge your Windows 11 PC, and you can also connect to other USB Type-C devices such as mobile phones, docking stations, display adapters, and other devices that have a USB-C port.

The dock connects to your USB-C enabled laptop by just one single USB-C cable to charge your laptop, transfer data, connect Three monitors, Gigabit Ethernet and an audio device at the same time. The docking station supports USB-C PD(Power Delivery) and can charge your laptop with up to 80W of power through the USB-C connection. The dock also connects to a USB 3.0 enabled computer through a USB 3.0 (USB-A) port and supports up to Three monitors, Gigabit Ethernet, USB Hub and Audio.

Does anybody have any idea what I can do with a brand new Dell Precision 7530 that I've already tuned for highest performance in the power settings where I'm getting terrible intermittent lag using a USB docking station?

Any keyboard or mouse I plug into it has the issue, and everything is wired. It's really really annoying, and I'm not convinced that if I try another brand/make of USB docking station that the problem will go away.

Right now I'm using one called "Plugable UD-3900".

Any suggestions would be fantastic. This sucks.

Make sure that you are using the latest pluggable driver and that it has the new firmware on the docking station. Are you connected via USB 3? Also if you are running anything video intensive on the dock it will load your computer down pretty fast.

I apologize if my statement wasn't much useful to you and I understand that's what you bought but you indicated you were not convinced any other USB docking station will make a difference. Which is why I asked about the Dell docking stations which is uses the Thunderbolt interface. Which has a better performance over USB 3.0. Besides your keyboard/mouse connected what else is connected?

I've read lots of threads about similar lagging and USB problems with many different devices. And I've seen a few threads about having the issues on one machine and not another with the same devices. So, I assume that the issue is most likely some underlying USB driver or resource issue that is causing it. I suppose there could be some magic combination of the right USB docking station, the right USB driver, and the right set of resources that may allow one model work and another model not work.

Hey man, you made my day, you're a genius. I was using a Dell D3100 docking station on a USB 3.0 SS connection and a Microsoft wireless mouse & keyboard. First I put the USB receiver dongle for the mouse into the docking station = LAAAGGGYYY as hell, I could even not hit a shortcut in the task bar because the mouse was so laggy. I followed your idea and stuck the USB receiver dongle directly into the Notebook (Dell Inspiron 5590) and tadaaaa, no more laggy mouse! Thanks man

What are your options if you want to run more than two displays? Enter DisplayLink. DisplayLink (not to be confused with DisplayPort) is the name of a technology created by a company also named DisplayLink. It lets you send a video signal to a display over USB or Wi-Fi instead of via DisplayPort or HDMI. DisplayLink technology was first used in laptop docking stations but can now be found in other video-related products including adapter cables and monitors.

Need help with setting up a Dell docking station with a laptop? This article provides information about how to connect and set up a Dell docking station with a laptop. You can also find common troubleshooting steps and answers to some frequently asked questions.

Docking stations come with different types of docking interfaces. For example, Dell E-port or D-port, Thunderbolt 3, USB-C, USB 3.0, or WiGig (wireless). It is important to identify if the type of docking interface or port that is available on the computer is compatible with the docking station.

Connect the docking station to the laptop. Ensure that the docking station is connected to the correct port on the laptop. It is important to ensure that the docking station is connected to the correct port.

While docking stations are primarily used with laptops, using a docking station with a desktop computer is much the same process as with a laptop. Most desktop computers offer a wide range of ports, hence docking stations are less often necessary for desktop computers.

This issue affects the UD-ULTCDL (original version), UD-ULTC4K (original version), and UD-3900PDZ docking stations along with any connected USB 2.0 and 3.0 devices, including the two DisplayLink based video outputs, Ethernet, and audio controlled by the DisplayLink USB Graphics chipset. The primary USB-C DisplayPort Alternate Mode based video output and connected display should remain functional after reboot. Charging should also be unaffected.

For most users simply unplugging the docking station from the computer, waiting 10-15 seconds, then reconnecting the docking station will restore the functionality, if this does not help please try these additional steps to fully reset the docking station and computer: e24fc04721
