Items to request when ordering a survey
Locate Building Footprint, relative to Property Lines
Footprint of adjacent buildings within 10-ft of property lines
Topography at 2' intervals (standard for new construction)
Spot grade/ elevations at property line and along sidewalk
Spot grade/ elevations at or near on-site building corners (provides for required Land Use and Build Code ‘average grade’ calculations)
Spot elevations at existing on-site building entries / finished floors (assists in understanding existing building, floor to floor heights, etc)
Spot elevation of existing on-site roof eaves and roof ridge (assists in determining building height)
Spot elevation of existing roof eaves and roof ridge of adjacent site buildings.. typically the two closest, one on each side (critical for design of new building, and helps GC once the existing building is gone).
Identify/locate Easements, if any
Locate Power lines: secondary and primary wire height that are closest to property. Also, pole height if it is in front of property
Locate and size all existing Trees, 6" in diameter or greater at 4.5-ft above the ground, including:
trunk size, canopy size, species if known
Identify any 'exceptional trees', if any
Locate general utilities near or on site, including
sewer lines
water meter
gas line or meter
man holes, culverts and/or storm water catch basins within 300'
Locate sidewalk, curb and curbcuts, if any.
Height of curb, if new curbcut are planned
If ECA (environmentally critical areas) are present on site, locate ECA and buffer
And.. extend Topography 25-ft past property lines
If excavation may happen near the property line:
Spot elevation of existing ‘first floor’ or basement level of adjacent buildings (helps us estimate depth of footings of the adjacent building)
