The Deviation Committee is comprised of senior SDOT staff, who review proposals that deviate from the standards set in Streets Illustrated (in this case, specifically Section 3.3 on Clearances). They will decide whether to approve or deny the request to deviate from standards.
If approved, I will notify you of the approval and I will be able to proceed with my review and approval of the application. I will provide you with next steps once ready.
If denied, I will request corrections through our system, noting the committee’s denial as well as any other required corrections.
If denied, you will be eligible to submit an appeal directly to the SDOT Director’s Office. More information on this process can be found at the bottom of this page. Please note that a request for Director’s Review can take considerably longer than a Deviation Request. For context, I just had a Director’s Review get resolved after 11 months in process.
