In order to properly archive a Revit model, you need to save a copy that will no longer sync to the central model. Then follow the instructions below:
- Start Revit
- Click open and locate your central model. There are two "worksharing" options at the bottom of the open window. Normally, we are supposed to select "create new local" which allows us to work in our own version that syncs to the central model.
- To archive, select Detach from Central. This will open an unnamed, detached version of the central model which can be saved in the Archive folder with a new name (Year.Month.Day-Title).
