Linking an Excel Table in InDesign

• Turn on Text Document linking by Edit > Preferences > File Handling and check the box that says "Create Links when Placing Text and Spreadsheet Files"
• Then go ahead find the file to place, but before inserting the file check the box that says "Show Import Options" at the bottom of the Place pop-up window
• Click "Open"
• The Options window will pop up. In this window make sure your table is an "Unformatted Table" and the table style is set to "Basic Table" (unless you have previously set up a table style.)
• Press "Ok" and place your file in the desired location .Your table is now linked and any graphic changes you make to the table in InDesign should carry through to any content changes you make in excel.
