Exporting from Revit to CAD

1. Open your Revit file using the instructions found here

2.Click the "R" in the top left hand corner of your screen

3. R > Export > CAD Formats > DWG

4. This dialog box will appear where you have 2 drop down menus

5. Verify that the drop down menu 1 says "a8 - Export Settings"

• This is a template Paul set up for layers, etc. and is the option you should always use

6. If you just want to export the current view you can use "<current view/sheet only>" for drop down menu 2

If you want to export multiple views change it to "<in-session view/sheet set>"

• Once you do this another drop down menu (3) will appear to show you some or all of the drawings available for export
• I would set this menu (3) to "Sheets in the Model" and then select the drawings I want to export

7. After you have selected the drawings you want press "next"

8. In this window you can specify your file prefix and naming convention

• I normally change the naming convention to "Automatic - Short" but this is mostly personal preference

9. Your files will be in whatever folder you left them in

10. Done - Woo Hoo!
