Creating a Bluebeam Session
If more than ONE person is marking up and picking up redlines then a Bluebeam session should be used. That means, if one person is marking up and a different person is picking up redlines, then that's two people total and a Bluebeam Session should be created. It will be a rare instance that a Bluebeam session is NOT created for a project.
A Bluebeam session should be opened for a project and remain open into project closeout. Documents can be added and removed over the course of the project so that the Bluebeam Session is always current and is the place to collect markups as they arise.
Creating a Bluebeam Session is super simple. Here's a handy dandy video of Stefan showing us how it's done: https://allied8-my.sharepoint.com/:v:/r/personal/leah_allied8_com/Documents/Recordings/BB%20Studio%20Session%20Standards%20+%20Orcas-20220104_112834-Meeting%20Recording.mp4?csf=1&web=1&e=F2UYWk
Managing a Bluebeam Session
The session should always contain the most current set, which is where everyone on the project should add markups throughout the duration of the project.
Each team member should pick a color and be consistent in using it, particularly on larger projects/teams.
As markups are implemented into the drawings in Revit or AutoCAD, they should be marked Completed in the Markups List.
Any markups that are superseded or otherwise no longer apply should be marked Cancelled in the Markups List.
Once all markups are marked Completed or Cancelled, and a new current set is added to the session, the previous current set should be deleted from the session and saved to the project files in ...\Drawings - Bluebeam\_Session file archive with "BB session" appended to the end of the filename.
The session may contain a previous iteration of the current set if not all markups have been marked Completed or Cancelled, however, the goal is to avoid or minimize this.
Bluebeam Sessions should be used differently for different project types, per below:
LARGER COMMERCIAL/PUBLIC PROJECTS:
Create BB session
Do not create a "CURRENT" static drawing set in the "Drawings Issued" folder.
If desired to aid in maintaining currents sets for upload to the session, create a "CURRENT" static drawing set in the ...\Drawings - Bluebeam\_Current Set DO NOT MARKUP folder.
The ASI folders should only contain related ASI sheets rather than all sheets since this is the default industry standard.
SINGLE FAMILY PROJECT - USING BLUEBEAM SESSION
Create BB session
Do not create a "CURRENT" static drawing set in the "Drawings Issued" folder
The ASI folders should contain the full current set for each ASI since this is the standard for smaller projects. The most current of these is what should be uploaded to the session as the current set where markups are made.
SINGLE FAMILY PROJECT - NO BLUEBEAM SESSION
No BB session if only one person on the project, quite rare.
Create a "CURRENT" static drawing set directly in the "Drawings Issued" folder, not in a subfolder.
