Welcome to my site!

I am an economist specializing in environmental and natural resource issues in developing countries. My work focuses on land use and land cover change, agricultural supply chains, and urban environmental issues.

I am Principal Economic Advisor to the Climate and Sustainable Development Sector at the Inter-American Development Bank. Past positions have included Senior Fellow, Thomas Klutznick Chair, and Director of the Environment for Development Program at Resources for the Future, Resident Advisor at the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center in Turrialba, Costa Rica, Adjunct Associate Professor at Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy, and Visiting Research Fellow at the University of California San Diego US-Mexico Study Center.

I serve as Associate Editor of Environment and Development Economics and the Latin American Economic Review. I also have had the opportunity to serve on variety of science, advisory, and management panels including for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) SERVIR program, the Forests and Livelihoods: Assessment, Research and Engagement (FLARE) Program, the Latin American and Caribbean Environmental Economics Program (LACEEP), and the Environment for Development (EfD) Initiative.
