Okay, so this post was supposed to be all about designing my logo. But you know what? I think I need to tell you the All The Tabs story first. Don't worry - it's not super long. But it does give some context about how this website came to be.
I came up with the name All The Tabs way back in 2018. I was participating in a Shake Up Learning Book Study (which I don't think happen anymore), and that experience inspired me to start a blog. I knew I needed a catchy name, and I also knew that I always had eleventy million tabs open on my computer AND in my brain. All The Tabs seemed to be the perfect name and I jumped right in on my blog. I was using Blogger, and while it is a great tool, it didn't look like I wanted it to. I now know that it is possible to have a great looking Blogger site, but back then I didn't. Plus, I found blogging to be a lot of work! Anyway, the blog kind of fizzled out.
I'm a middle school technology coordinator, so my job is to help teachers use technology to transform teaching and learning. When the pandemic sent us home in March 2020, teachers had to embrace so much new technology overnight that it was overwhelming. Not to mention all of the other stuff that accompanied pandemic living. After a year of pandemic teaching, teachers did not have the strength nor the time to participate in professional development. But I had so much to tell them! Especially things that would make their lives easier.
Here's my very first Tuesday Tech Tip!
I decided that I would start doing weekly tech tips as a way to provide bite-sized technology professional development for my teachers. I had seen others share Tuesday Tech Tips on Twitter, so I planned to use that as my tactic. I also knew I wanted graphics as part of my tech tips, so I used some skills I learned in Tony Vincent's Classy Graphics and Classy Creations workshops to create a template.
I immediately got great positive feedback from my teachers! I was encouraged to share on Twitter as well, and long story short, Tuesday Tech Tips have gotten a bit of attention there. People starting asking if I had a website. And all I had was a boring-looking blog with the most recent post being from February 2020.
I knew I needed to do something. But my blog was so...meh. Plus, I wanted a way to share other things I've created and a blog wasn't going to cut it. And then something glorious happened. Tony Vincent announced a new workshop, Classy Sites. At that point I knew that All The Tabs was coming back. 😊
Thank you for joining me on this journey.
