PRIVACY POLICY — AliSave: Price Tracker & Downloader for AliExpress
1. SUMMARY
AliSave has no server, no account and no backend. Everything it records stays
in your own browser, in Chrome's local extension storage. Nothing you look at,
search for, buy or save is transmitted to the developer or to any third party.
There is no analytics, no telemetry and no click tracking of any kind.
2. WHAT ALISAVE STORES ON YOUR DEVICE
All of the following is written to chrome.storage.local on your computer and
never leaves it, except when you yourself export it to a file:
- Watchlist The AliExpress products you chose to track: product ID,
title, image URL, seller and the target price you set.
- Price history The price readings AliSave has taken for those products
(a timestamp and a number per reading), plus the currency.
- Settings Your shipping country, display currency, alert threshold,
check interval, panel preferences and affiliate settings.
- Coupon cache Coupon codes that were found to work, so they are not
re-tested on every visit.
- Exchange rates The daily currency rate table, cached to avoid refetching.
- Stats Local counters (e.g. how many products are tracked) used
to draw the popup.
You can delete all of it at any time by removing the extension, or by using the
reset control in the extension's settings. Uninstalling deletes the storage.
3. WHAT ALISAVE READS, AND WHERE
On AliExpress storefronts (aliexpress.com, .us, .ru, .pl, .nl, .de, .com.tr,
.co.kr, .in, .ae) AliSave reads information that is already displayed on the
page you are viewing: product title, price, discount, seller name and rating,
shipping options, images and customer reviews. This is used on the page to
draw the price chart, score the seller, flag a fake discount and calculate the
landed cost. It is stored locally only for products you added to your
watchlist. It is never transmitted anywhere.
On all other websites, only two files run: a small utility library and the
link rewriter. They look for links that point to AliExpress and rewrite those
links so they carry the developer's AliExpress affiliate tag (see section 5).
No page content is read, collected, stored or sent; no other link is touched;
the panel, badges, scraping and downloads are limited to AliExpress pages.
AliSave never reads passwords, payment details, cookies, form input, browsing
history or any page outside the scope described above.
4. NETWORK REQUESTS
AliSave makes exactly three kinds of outgoing request:
a) To AliExpress and its image CDN (alicdn.com) — to re-check the price of
a product on your watchlist in the background, to resolve a short link,
and to fetch the images and review photos you asked to download. These go
to AliExpress only, and carry no data about you beyond what your browser
normally sends to AliExpress.
b) To https://open.er-api.com — a public exchange-rate endpoint, called at
most twice a day to fetch the day's rate table for currency conversion.
The request contains no user data; it asks only for the rates. Their
privacy policy applies to that request: https://www.exchangerate-api.com
c) To https://s.click.aliexpress.com — only when you click an AliExpress
link that AliSave has tagged, or open a product through the extension.
This is AliExpress's own affiliate redirector (see section 5).
No request is ever made to a server operated by the developer, because there
is none.
5. AFFILIATE LINKS — HOW ALISAVE IS FUNDED
AliSave adds the developer's AliExpress Portals affiliate tag to AliExpress
links, so that a purchase you make earns the developer a commission paid by
AliExpress. This is the extension's only source of funding.
- It never changes the price you pay. The commission is paid by AliExpress
out of its own margin.
- It never replaces a link that already carries someone else's affiliate
tag, and never double-wraps a link that is already going through the
affiliate redirector.
- It works by handing the destination URL to AliExpress's own redirector
(s.click.aliexpress.com). AliExpress, not AliSave, records the click.
- AliSave receives from AliExpress only aggregate, anonymous commission
reporting. It does not receive, and cannot request, your identity, your
order contents or your payment details.
- AliSave keeps a local, 30-day list of the product IDs you opened through
one of its links, purely so it can tell you later that a product was
already opened through AliSave. This list stays on your device.
- You can switch affiliate tagging off entirely in the extension's settings
(⚙ → Affiliate). The rest of the extension keeps working.
6. FILES YOU DOWNLOAD
The image ZIP, the reviews CSV and the watchlist CSV are built inside your
browser and saved by Chrome to your download folder. They are not uploaded
anywhere. A download only starts when you click the button that starts it.
7. NOTIFICATIONS
Desktop notifications are raised only for products on your own watchlist,
only when the price crosses the threshold you set, and can be turned off in
the popup.
8. DATA SHARING AND SALE
AliSave does not sell your data. It does not transfer your data to third
parties. It does not use or transfer your data for any purpose unrelated to
its single purpose, and never for creditworthiness or lending. There is no
data to sell or transfer: none of it ever reaches the developer.
9. CHILDREN
AliSave is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information from
anyone.
10. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Using AliSave does not change your relationship with AliExpress. When you
browse or buy on AliExpress, AliExpress's own privacy policy governs that
activity: https://www.aliexpress.com/p/privacy-policy/index.html
11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If the extension's data practices change, this document is updated and the
"Last updated" date above changes with it. Material changes will be noted in
the Chrome Web Store listing.
