AliGrab ("the extension") is a browser extension that enables users to search for products on AliExpress and Alibaba by image from any webpage, compare seller prices, and view results conveniently inside a side panel.
This privacy policy explains how the extension handles user data and permissions.
1. WHAT WE DO NOT COLLECT
AliGrab does NOT collect, store, sell, or transmit any personally identifiable information:
• No names, email addresses, phone numbers, or passwords.
• No browsing history or track of web pages you visit.
• No IP addresses, device identifiers, or geolocation data.
• No financial or payment information.
• No external tracking, telemetry, or analytics scripts.
The developer operates no external servers and maintains no user database. All searches and actions remain private to you.
2. HOW THE EXTENSION WORKS & DATA PROCESSING
• Image Search: When you search for a product using an image (via hover icon, right-click menu, area selection, or drag-and-drop), the selected image is sent directly to AliExpress / Alibaba search APIs solely to retrieve matching product results.
• Local Processing: Screen captures (via Alt+Shift+S) and image cropping take place entirely on your device inside your browser memory and are never uploaded to any third-party server.
3. DATA STORED LOCALLY ON YOUR DEVICE
The extension only stores non-sensitive user preferences locally using Chrome's built-in storage:
• Preferences: Selected country, currency, display settings, and interface language.
• Search History: Kept exclusively inside your browser's local storage so you can view previous searches (can be cleared anytime in settings).
4. PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED
• storage: Saves user settings and local search history on your device.
• sidePanel: Displays search results and price comparisons inside Chrome's side panel.
• contextMenus: Allows right-clicking any image on the web to search on AliExpress.
• activeTab & scripting: Enables the screen snipping / crop tool (Alt+Shift+S) on the active page when triggered by the user.
• cookies: Reads and syncs AliExpress localized currency and country cookies (aep_usuc_f) so results show proper pricing.
• declarativeNetRequestWithHostAccess & webRequest: Ensures API headers (Origin/Referer) attach properly to visual search requests and reads live product page prices.
• tabs: Detects navigation on AliExpress product pages to display real-time verified prices and opens the welcome page upon install.
• Host Permissions (*.aliexpress.com, *.alibaba.com, <all_urls>): Allows visual search queries to reach AliExpress/Alibaba, and displays the optional hover search icon on web images.
5. 100% FREE & AFFILIATE DISCLOSURE
AliGrab is completely free to use without any paid subscriptions or hidden fees.
To sustain ongoing development and maintenance, the extension utilizes the official AliExpress affiliate program. When you open a product or store from our search results, the link passes through an affiliate URL, and AliExpress may pay us a small commission.

• We never alter third-party website links or inject unauthorized redirects.
6. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The extension interacts solely with AliExpress and Alibaba endpoints to execute the visual searches you request. Their handling of data is subject to Alibaba Group's privacy policies.
