Privacy Policy - AliGrab

AliGrab ("the extension") is a browser extension that lets you download product
images and videos from AliExpress and Alibaba product pages. This policy
explains exactly what the extension does and does not do with your information.
1. WHAT WE DO NOT COLLECT
AliGrab does not collect, store, sell, rent or transmit any of the following:
- Your name, email address, or any account details
- Your AliExpress, Alibaba or Google login credentials
- Your browsing history or the pages you visit
- Your IP address, device identifiers or location
- Payment or financial information
- Analytics, usage statistics or telemetry of any kind
The developer operates no server and no database. No information from your
browser is ever sent to the developer.
2. WHAT THE EXTENSION ACCESSES, AND WHY
AliGrab only runs on AliExpress and Alibaba product pages. On those pages it
reads the page content in order to find the image and video files that belong
to the product you are viewing - the main gallery, variant photos, description
images, customer review photos and the product video.
This reading happens entirely inside your own browser. The image and video
addresses are used only to download the files to your computer. They are not
recorded, uploaded or shared.
When you start a download, the extension requests the media files directly from
AliExpress and Alibaba servers, exactly as your browser would if you saved an
image by hand. No third-party server sits in between.
3. DATA STORED ON YOUR DEVICE
The extension stores a small amount of information using your browser's own
storage:
- Your settings: preferred download mode, whether to include video, folder
naming style, WebP-to-JPG conversion and description auto-scan.
- A record that the welcome page has been shown.
- A single flag recording that you have used the downloader at least once.
Settings are saved with Chrome's sync storage, which means Chrome may sync them
between your own signed-in devices. This is handled by Chrome, not by us.
All of this is removed automatically when you uninstall the extension.
4. PERMISSIONS
- downloads: to save the images and videos you choose into your Downloads folder.
- scripting: to place the download toolbar on the product page and read the
media on it.
- tabs: to know when you have opened a product page so the toolbar can appear.
- storage: to remember your settings, as described above.
- Access to aliexpress.com, aliexpress.us, alicdn.com, aliexpress-media.com and
alibaba.com: these are the sites the extension works on and the servers that
host their product images and videos.
The extension requests no access to any other website.
5. AFFILIATE LINKS
AliGrab is free. There is no subscription and no paid feature. Development is
funded through the AliExpress affiliate programme.
After you download something with the extension for the first time, AliExpress
product pages that you open may be routed briefly through an affiliate link
before arriving at the same product page. If a purchase follows, the developer
may receive a small commission from AliExpress.
This never changes the price you pay, never changes which product you see, and
never involves sending your personal information anywhere. It is switched off
until your first download, and it stops immediately if you uninstall the
extension.
6. THIRD PARTIES
The extension communicates only with AliExpress and Alibaba, and only to fetch
the product media you asked for or to follow the affiliate link described above.
Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies.
No advertising networks, analytics providers or data brokers are involved.
7. CHILDREN
AliGrab is a tool for online sellers and shoppers and is not directed at
children under 13.
8. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a
new "Last updated" date.
