Algorena is an app for iPhone and iPad that teaches algorithms through interactive lessons. It is published by Vinh Nguyen (VinhDEV) ("we", "us" or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, where that information is kept, and which third parties receive information when you use the app.
Algorena has no user accounts, no sign-in and no cloud sync. We do not operate our own servers for the app. We do not receive copies of your answers, your progress or anything else you do in the app.
The free version of the app shows advertising provided by Google AdMob. Google receives certain device and usage information to deliver those ads, as described in Section 5.
This policy applies only to the Algorena app. It does not apply to the App Store, Google's services or any other third-party service, each of which has its own privacy policy.
Algorena does not ask for your email address, phone number, contacts, location, photos, camera, microphone or health data.
The app handles the following information so that it can work:
Your learning progress, such as which lessons you have completed, your results in prediction rounds, quizzes and practice drills, and your mastery level for each skill.
Your preferences, such as appearance settings.
A first name or nickname, only if you choose to enter one in Settings. It is optional and is used only to personalize the app.
Whether you have purchased Algorena Pro. The app checks this with Apple's StoreKit service and keeps a record of the answer on your device.
All of the information listed in Section 2 is stored only on your device. Algorena does not sync your progress to iCloud or to any other service.
Your progress may be included in your device's own iCloud or computer backups, if you have turned those on. Those backups are managed by Apple and by you, not by the app.
The information described in Sections 2 and 3 is used only to provide the app's features. This includes running lessons, tracking your progress and mastery, remembering your settings and unlocking Pro features after a purchase.
We do not use this information for advertising, and we do not sell it. The information described in Section 5, which Google handles, is used for advertising.
The free version of Algorena shows ads through Google AdMob, an advertising service of Google LLC and its affiliates ("Google"). The app includes the Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK.
The app shows the following kinds of ads:
Native ads on some screens.
Full-screen interstitial ads at some natural breaks, such as after a completed lesson.
Optional rewarded video ads. You can choose to watch one in exchange for temporary access to Pro features. These ads play only when you tap to watch.
When the app requests or displays an ad, the Google Mobile Ads SDK sends information from your device to Google. According to Google's published disclosures for the SDK, this can include:
Your IP address, which can be used to estimate your general location.
Device identifiers, such as the advertising identifier (IDFA) if you allow tracking, and app- or developer-scoped identifiers.
Advertising data, such as the ads you have seen.
Product interaction data, such as app launches, taps and video views.
Diagnostic data, such as crash logs and performance data.
Google uses this information to deliver, measure and improve ads, to limit how often an ad is shown, to prevent fraud and abuse, and for analytics. Where you have given permission, Google may also use it to show personalized ads.
We do not send your progress, answers, preferences or name to Google or to any other advertiser.
Before any ad is requested, the app checks your consent status through Google's UMP SDK. If you are in a region where consent is required, such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app presents Google's consent message and does not request ads until the consent requirements are met. Where a privacy options entry is available, you can change your choices later in the app's Settings.
The app may also ask for permission to track you through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you refused personalized advertising in Google's consent message, the app does not show the tracking prompt. If you do not allow tracking, the app cannot access your device's advertising identifier. Google may still use other information, such as your IP address, to serve and measure non-personalized ads and to prevent fraud. You can change this at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your device.

Algorena does not include any analytics, crash reporting, attribution or social media SDKs other than the Google SDKs described above. The app also uses Apple's StoreKit service, which Apple handles under its own privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
Algorena offers Algorena Pro, a one-time purchase that unlocks extra features and removes ads. There is no subscription.
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details, billing address or Apple Account password. The app receives only the information it needs from Apple to confirm that you own Pro.
When you have Pro, the app stops requesting ads and deletes the advertising consent information that Google's UMP SDK had stored on your device.
Lessons work without an internet connection. The app uses the internet for two things:
Loading ads and handling ad consent, through Google's SDKs, in the free version.
Checking and restoring purchases with the App Store.
The app does not connect to any server operated by us.
We do not collect your personal information on our own systems, so we have none to sell, rent or share.
Information leaves your device only in these cases:
Google receives the advertising-related information described in Section 5 when you use the free version.
Apple processes your App Store purchases.
Under some US state privacy laws, allowing an advertising partner to collect information for targeted advertising can be treated as "selling" or "sharing" personal information. To the extent those laws apply, Google's collection described in Section 5 may fall within those terms. You can limit it as described in Section 11.
Your progress stays on your device until you delete it.
You can delete your data in these ways:
In Settings, choose Reset all progress. This deletes your learning progress. Your Pro purchase is not affected.
Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device.
Google retains the information it collects through its SDKs according to its own policies. We cannot delete information held by Google. You can manage your Google advertising settings at https://myadcenter.google.com and learn about Google's retention practices at https://policies.google.com/technologies/retention
Your progress is protected by the security features of your device. Because we do not run servers for this app, your progress is not stored on any system we control.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Please protect your device with a passcode.
You have the following choices in the app and on your device:
Leave the optional name field empty.
Refuse or change advertising consent through Google's consent message, where it is offered, and through the privacy options in the app's Settings, where available.
Allow or deny tracking through Apple's App Tracking Transparency, and change this later in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
Delete your data in the app, as described in Section 9.
Purchase Pro to stop ads entirely.
Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you rights over your personal data. These can include the right to access, correct or delete it, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a data protection authority. This includes residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, certain US states and Vietnam.
Where the GDPR or a similar law applies, advertising cookies and identifiers are used on the basis of your consent where consent is required. Your progress is processed only on your device to provide the features you use.
Because we do not hold your progress, you can view or delete it directly in the app. For information Google collects, you can use Google's tools or contact Google. You may also contact us using the details in Section 15 with any privacy question or request, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.
Algorena is a general-audience educational app. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under the minimum age set by the law where they live.
The app does not collect personal information on our own systems. However, the advertising described in Section 5 is not designed for children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us. You can also use the deletion options in Section 9.
Information collected by Google through its SDKs may be processed in the United States and other countries where Google or its service providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those of your country. Google describes the safeguards it uses for international transfers in its privacy policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app or the law changes. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If a change significantly affects how your information is handled, we will provide notice in the app or on the App Store listing before the change takes effect.
