Instructor and Advisor in Macroeconomic Modeling for Policy Analysis and Forecasting: A Bayesian DSGE Approach
These training activities and technical assistance programs are provided by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), through its Fiscal Management Division and the FISLAC team, to Ministries of Finance, Economy, and related public institutions across Latin America and the Caribbean.
The technical assistance aims to strengthen participants’ capabilities in macroeconomic modeling, with a focus on policy analysis and forecasting. The training is centered on medium- to large-scale Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) models for small open economies, incorporating a wide range of nominal, real, and financial frictions and rigidities. These models integrate the real, fiscal, monetary, and financial sectors, together with the external sector and balance-of-payments dynamics. The courses combine rigorous theoretical foundations with hands-on implementation in MATLAB and Dynare. Participants are trained in advanced methods and techniques to assess the macroeconomic effects of public policies, develop economic projections, and analyze alternative scenarios, including episodes of macroeconomic and fiscal stress.
In particular, I have provided training and technical assistance to the following governments and public institutions:
