Alfredo holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Universidad EAFIT (2022) and currently works as a consultant in macro-fiscal forecasts in the Fiscal Management Division of the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB). He earned his bachelor's degree in Economics from Universidad Mayor de San Andrés and completed a master's degree in Economics at Universidad EAFIT.
With a solid academic background, Alfredo has taught Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Econometrics, and Financial Mathematics in undergraduate programs at Universidad EAFIT, Universidad de Antioquia, and Universidad Central de Bolivia. Additionally, he served as a teaching assistant for Advanced Macroeconomics I and II in the graduate programs (Master's in Economics, Master's in Finance, and Ph.D. in Economics) at EAFIT. His professional experience includes roles as a Sectorial Analyst at the Secretaría de Planificación del Desarrollo for the Gobierno Departamental de La Paz and an internship at the Asesoría de Política Económica of the Banco Central de Bolivia.
He has published articles in internationally peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, he has received several prestigious international awards, including the Premio de Banca Central Rodrigo Gómez from the Centro de Estudios Monetarios Latinoamericanos (CEMLA), the award from the Asociacón Bancaria y de Entidades Financieras de Colombia (ASOBANCARIA), the award from the Banco Central de Bolivia, and the Macro Finance Research Program (MFR) award from the Becker Friedman Institute at the University of Chicago.

Alfredo specializes in the development, formulation, solution, calibration, estimation, and simulation of dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) models. These models integrate various real, nominal, and financial frictions and are applicable to both closed and open economies. His research focuses on understanding the transmission mechanisms of exogenous shocks, evaluating economic policies, analyzing forecasts, and constructing stress scenarios in both real and financial contexts. Additionally, he utilizes multivariate time series econometric models as a supplementary tool in his research endeavors (VAR, SVAR, BVAR).
