I am having the same problem as Inon. The adapter worked well after upgrading from win 7 to win 10. However when trying to initially install it on a new win 10 computer the driver update fails every time. AND, I have followed every step exactly MANY times and it still fails.

A lot more options can be made with the alfa utility since windows suck. Ok sorry, things can be done with Windows too using CMD or PowerShell but take few clicks with the utility and few more minutes.

for me win7 drivers not working in win10. it says it can't find any drivers in folder. i can only use software and make it work using compatibility option, but it's still not working properly. adapter is turning on and off while connecting on my home wifi and it says it cannot connect.

I bought this network adapter from Amazon and I don't know how to install the drivers. The adapter comes with a CD for drivers and when I put it in, it has .autorun.exe autorun.ico autorun.csp, and autorun.inf.

Now using these cards on Windows won't get you packet injection or monitoring mode due to the drivers, but if you are going to be using them for wireless pen-testing on a LInux distro besides Backtrack you can use the Compat Wireless drivers which works well under any Linux distro.

Also the adapter seems to have a mind of its own. Even though I set the regulator domain (iw reg set BO) to Bolivia, and the txpower to 30, it seems to jump regions (hence power levels) almost at will depending on what I'm doing. It also has a tendency to get stuck on channel 11. I've always heard that the AWUS036H is supposed to work great out-of-the-box with BT5r3. What do you think. Is it a driver problem? Any ideas? Btw, the adapter works fine in both WinXP and Win7 with the correct drivers installed.

The problem i am facing is connecting the usb wireless network adapter to the vmware workstation. I get the an error when trying to disconnect realtek from the host and to the vmware workstation. The error I'm getting is 'the connection for the usb device "Realtek USB Device" was unsuccessful Driver error.'

Here's the problem. When I plug the adapter into the USB port (doesn't matter which one) and load the drivers, the adapter just cycles on and off. Meaning it appears and disappears on the computer constantly at a rate of about once per second. If you have the device manager open, it appears and disappears under network adapters. I've tried every driver I can find... same result. I even let windows choose the driver from Windows update... same. I did a complete system restore (using a different hard drive) back to factory new condition... made no difference. Tried a different adapter, did the same thing. Is there some sort of incompatibility with this presario and the 8187 chipset?

The ports are working properly. My keyboard and mouse are both USB. I have a Linksys USB adapter that works just fine in any of the ports. It seems to be some sort of incompatibility with the Realek chipset and/or drivers. The 'cycling' effect does not occur until after the drivers are loaded. If you plug the device in without any drivers loaded, it doesn't cycle on and off. ff782bc1db
