The Buffalo Valley Mine (BVM) is one of several distal disseminated gold deposits grouped in the Battle Mountain-Eureka Mining District (BMEMD; Figure 1A). The Brooks, Lone Tree, Marigold, Trenton Canyon, and Phoenix mines are in the northernmost region of the BMEMD, are within 15 km of the BVM, and are all classified as distal disseminated and pluton-related gold deposits [1]. These types of gold mines share many defining characteristics with Carlin-type gold deposits. However, one feature differs: the spatial proximity of the dike(s)/igneous body that are hypothesized to have provided heat, fluids, or precious metals to the formation of the deposit [1;2]. The BVM offers the opportunity to study the source of the fluids and gold.
