Hi folks, It's been a while.
A few weeks ago, I (Superwoops) took complete ownership of Alexandrian News. This was in hopes of later on reviving it as a reputable news outlet, as I had been doing during February and the beginning of March. We tried to acquire grants a few times, but were unsuccessful.
We had been doing pretty good- we had 4 employees working tirelessly to put out articles. We were also training some of these as paid interns.
Now, this article is not intended to make you feel pity. I just want everyone to know how hard it is to run a media outlet. From managing the Discord server, answering questions, writing your own articles, editing employees' articles, formatting them on Google Sites, creating thumbnails and finally posting them on Sapphire. However, I enjoyed every part of it, because it meant we were finally turning around the image of Alexandrian News.
Plura recently posted a couple of articles and received some heavy backlash. Now, I'm not gonna back up most of his claims, but I did want to bring up the first issue he brought to the public's attention. He's claimed that the Director of the RBI has been inactive. Was this true? Yes. President of the Senate CaseyLeFaye expected this to be fixed immediately. Now, was their inactivity justified? Yes, probably. Freeze_Line has stated that he has a lot going on in life. Still, this doesn't negate the fact that he is in violation of the Code of Conduct. This part of Plura's articles was decent journalism on a topic no one else had brought up.
We are a nation that has freedom of the press. Restricting this right is a violation of the Constitution. You can argue whatever you want, but if we start here, where do we go next? Shutting down businesses of people that are unpopular? Letting the government ban outlets they deem unnecessary or harmful? This is a very slippery slope.
Also, Plura's article does not reflect Alexandrian News' view because it was an opinion piece. Sure, it was low quality and posted on our webhook, but I have provided a solution to this. I promise that, if we stay active, the only person with access to the webhook will be me.
So why aren't people just asking for a retraction and/or a public apology? Because people love drama and sensationalism, a wave other news outlets are also trying to capitalise on. And on use of AI? Most of our articles haven't used it. Why doesn't the public, for example, look at some of other news outlets instead? We took one random article from Quark Finance, and found it was 100% AI-generated (Federal Court Ruling Deals Blow To FRB Authority in Landmark Case). This isn't to bring down other news outlets. It's to show that when we get something wrong, the fallout for us is ten times worse.
So yes, this is an apology. I am personally sorry for the harm this outlet has caused. I hope the public can realise that I didn't do anything in bad faith, just wanted to promote good journalism. If this is our last article, I'd like to thank our readers, and other news outlets for their professionalism, such as The Reveille Times and Paper News.
Proof to back up our claim.
