I am a Reader (Associate Professor) in Natural Language Processing in the Institute for Language, Cognition and Computation (ILCC), School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh.

I am a leading member of the StatMT group and a member of the Edinburgh Natural Language Processing group. 

I am co-founder of Aveni.ai - a leading startup in speech analytics and conversational AI.

My main research focuses on machine translation and multilingual dialogue, but I am broadly interested in leveraging NLP to create compelling applications that improve people's lives.
