Our community project is set in Sitke (9671 Sitke, József A. u. 4), a small Hungarian village with a rich history (with records dating back 1251) and a serene, natural setting. It is surrounded by vineyards that have flourished for centuries.
Located just 40 minutes from the Austrian border, Sitke lies at the foothills of the ancient volcano of Celldömölk and is conveniently accessible from major cities like Vienna, Bratislava, Graz, Budapest, and Maribor—all just about or less than a two-hour drive away. This makes it an easily reachable destination for those coming from various parts of Central Europe.
Sitke itself is a peaceful and sleepy village most of the year, but becomes very much alive (if not crowded) every August when the famous Sitke Rock Festival takes place on the Calvary Hill in front of the Catholic church, attracting up to 30,000 guests and featuring renowned Hungarian rock bands.
