About My Website

This is my best work from my freshman year. The work that I have selected demonstrates my learning and growth in the six 21st Century Competencies. Each 21C Competency page includes my best work in that area, and my self-rating with my reflection that defends the rating I have selected.

About Me

I learned a lot this school year. My A1 class is gym. We have played Soccer, Flag Football, Volleyball, Kickball, Hockey, Basketball Pickle ball, Kickball, etc. I didn't know how to play hockey before but now I am actually decent. I know how to hit the puck and also know how to control it. I also know how to hit the ball and where to hit it in volleyball. I used to be very bad at Basketball but now since we played and practiced a little, I got a bit better. My A2 class is History. My class has learned about important revolutions this year like the Mexican Revolution, French Revolution, Russian Revolution, etc. We also learned about the industrial revolution, genocides, controversial questions, etc.. I enjoy learning more about these topics. It is really interesting how times have seriously changed in just 100 to 200 years! My A3 class is English. I have learned how to annotate stories. My class did essays about the topics "Can people change?", Gender studies, "Is it ever right to Fight?", and we have also made our own Auto-ethnography. For my auto-ethnography, I wrote a poem about soccer. I feel that I did a great job with this poem. My A4 class is Dramatic Arts. Here I have learned to be a better actor. At the end of the year, we made a play to present in our final exam. My group's play was about Police Brutality. Also, this class has helped me feel more confident about presenting in front of people. My B1 class is Geometry. At first it was kind of difficult to understand. Now, I understand so many things that have to do with Geometry. I've learned how to solve equations with letters and also how to find a slope and areas of different kinds of shapes. My B2 class is Spanish. I am already a good Spanish speaker but I've learned some new Spanish words that I have never used before. In this class, we already did around seven projects. My favorite project was when we had to create a book and write about our summer vacation. It took me almost two weeks to create it. My B3 class is Phy-Chem. This is one of my hardest classes. In the beginning of the year, we did an experiment where we tested how fast we could react by catching a ruler. After we did this experiment, we had to unlock a padlock as fast as we could. I feel that this was my best science work yet. Later on through the year, my class went on a trip to learn a bit more about clouds. I enjoyed this trip because it was fun to be outside and learn. My B4 class is writing workshop. In the beginning of the year, we did a "I am poem". I really enjoyed this mini project because I had the chance to tell people about me and what I am like. I feel that I improved my writing skills more after coming to this class. I say this because I noticed that now I put my true feelings into a piece of writing. I didn't use to do this before back in middle school. My favorite project of this year was when we created a children's book. I learned how to create a book and learned to get over my fear of presenting in front of people. I also learned to be more honest about my classmate's work. I tell my peers the actual truth to make their piece of writing better.

This year I have learned so much about myself. I learned that I need to study more to pass tests and quizzes in order to get good grades in my classes. I also learned that I am really good at keeping up with my projects and classwork. This year has been going great for me so far, I have many new friends and I am more social. My highs this year is that there is a soccer club in this school and that my grades are really good so far. My lows are waking up early for school and having to climb up the Metro stairs everyday.

My transition in high school has been really good. My teachers have been really friendly with me and also like to talk about things that I like. My classmates have also been really friendly towards me too. I am enjoying high school so far and I hope to be here for the next three years.
