Alex Laier actually works as associate professor it the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics at the Fluminense Federal University in the Department of Geometry. 

PhD in Mathematics from PUC-Rio (05/2010),
Master in Mathematics PUC-Rio (2006).
Bachelor in Pure Mathematics UEM (2002) .

Worked in the development of projects in collaboration with Petrobras, EMC and DELL Technologies. He is currently working on research for lossless compression of seismic data, time series analysis and pattern detection in seismic data using ML. In 2019, he served as general chair of SIBGRAPI 2019. In 2022 obtained first place in Rede Globo's challenge at the Data Science Hackathon.
