Alex Laier is currently an Associate Professor at the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics, Fluminense Federal University, in the Department of Geometry.
He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from PUC-Rio (2010), a Master’s degree in Mathematics from PUC-Rio (2006), and a Bachelor’s degree in Pure Mathematics from UEM (2002).
He has collaborated on projects with Petrobras, EMC, and Dell Technologies. His current research focuses on lossless seismic data compression, time series analysis, and pattern detection in seismic data using machine learning. In 2019, he served as General Chair of SIBGRAPI. In 2022, he achieved first place in Rede Globo's Data Science Hackathon.
