In the fall of 2025 and early 2026, I continued at Built Robotics part-time as an AI Engineer on the AI and Perception team. The role focused on improving the reliability and deployability of perception systems used in autonomous construction equipment, working within the Theia and Gaia-Theia production stacks.
Worked on
Hardening the developer environment: refactored devcontainers to run non-root (fixing file ownership issues and closing a privilege escalation risk), added Tailscale support for secure remote access, and improved shell tooling.
Improving test reliability for multi-process perception systems: extended test infrastructure to detect stalled processes and shared-state conflicts, eliminating silent failures and false positives in CI.
Migrating and expanding pedestrian detection tests into the Theia repo, consolidating perception test coverage and adding scenario-based tests for realistic detection conditions.
Building model evaluation tooling with FiftyOne: multi-model prediction visualization against ground truth, automated precision/recall computation, file-watch-triggered processing, and a queued parallel pipeline decoupling data ingestion from evaluation.
