I have a similar issue. However, I'm cloning my C drive currently on a Samsung 840 1TB SSD to a Samsung 860 EVO 4TB SSD. Using Samsung data migration tool, I get a successful clone without errors, however I get the same BSOD upon trying to boot. Last night, I got the same BSOD again, but I was able to change the boot order and boot to the 4TB SSD, but it only showed 2TB at most with a large unallocated portion that disk manager wasn't able to allocate the unused portion. Upon restarting my PC again, I got the BSOD again and couldn't get it to boot. I'm thinking to try the AOMEI Backupper and see if that's any better. Not sure what I'm missing. I'll post a new thread for this.
Carbon Copy Cloner is an excellent tool for duplicating as well as creating a boot backup drive. The only downside it is not free, but in the long run if it is used also as a backup application, it is worth the cost. But fundamentally for copying data from one HDD to another, it offers no advantage over Disk utility.
I 'm trying to use the Data Migration software to clone my old OS drive(SSD EVO 860 250gb) to a new 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 1tb.....I downloaded the Samsung data migration software. Very simple process, did exactly as it instructed. It shut the system down on it's own. When I rebooted I went into Bios as I've been told, in order to reassign the boot drive. Went to restart......and it doesn't work!

you need to disable bitlocker. Open PowerShell and run manage-bde -off C: to decrypt the C drive. While I didn't have bitlocker enabled in the 2004 update it was prompting to activate encryption by default. As soon as I disabled the data started to copy with no crashing

Samsung Magician can't correctly detect the device (sure, it's offline). I can set it to online mode to access the data, but I can't boot correctly from it.
