Help grow a greener, shadier, safer Aldan
This fall, neighbors are coming together to plant 30 trees and 110 native shrubs at the Aldan Elementary School field.
Join us for one event or several. Come for as little as 45 minutes. No experience is needed for most activities, and families are welcome. We’ll provide the tools and show you what to do.
Make the school field greener and shadier.
Help create habitat for birds, butterflies, and other wildlife.
Meet neighbors while doing something lasting for Aldan.
Here are the days and ways to help...
Celebrate Indigenous Life Day by helping us rebuild our local ecosystem, planting native shrubs. Afterwards, share a Friendsgiving meal, try some foods from indigenous plants and animals, and take home some native plants for your own garden.
We have 30 trees to get in the ground! Plant a 🌳 get a professional photo taken for holiday cards, take home a free tree seedling. Come when you can, leave when you must!
More ways to help!
Aldan Youth Club families and sports fans — help plant a green shrub ‘fence’ to keep soccer on the field instead of in the streets.
Pick up your child from Aldan Elementary School and join us for up to 45 minutes on the field to plant shrubs. For every plant in the ground, earn a sticker for their Plant It! button — earn 5 stickers to redeem a free slice of pizza at Cocco's Pizza & a free gelato at DelCo Diner on Oak Ave (and other goodies!)
Help auger holes to make community tree planting possible at the Aldan Elementary school along Woodlawn Ave. The soil is heavily compacted and digging is tough. Help us give these trees their best shot at growing strong roots!
We will provide an 8” electric auger, ear protection, gloves & a tutorial on what to do. Use one-person auger to make a grid of 6-9 holes per tree planting location.
This is heavy work! Experience desired and muscle required!
